Chancellor Angela Merkel said at the EU summit in Brussels late on Tuesday that she didn’t see any way that the British decision to leave the EU could be reversed.

“I don’t see a way to turn it round. This isn’t the time for wishful thinking,” said Merkel.

The possibility of avoiding a Brexit was not even raised at the summit, the Chancellor claimed. “The referendum is a clear reality.” […]

When EU leaders next meet in September, only 27 will be there, with Britain already shut out. “That is a good next step,” said Merkel. …

So even with Article 50 inactive, the EU already invokes and violates it simultaneously.

Merkel is putting the screws to the UK to prevent others from leaving the EU.

She probably does want the British out so the Germans can have a free hand to dominate all of Europe, which is what Thatcher predicted.

I’ve read and heard so much “serious” commentary over the last few days that outright calls for ignoring the results of the vote and tossing democracy out the window in the UK. Thus just proves the people were right.

I also heard on the radio, CBS News I think, that Scotland was “fiercely independent” and would break from the Brexiting UK to remain subjects of Brussels. This was delivered straight with no note of irony. I lolled.

Yeah. Connect the dots. The EU dictators want an EU army to replace national ones. Can't see how the British military could be integrated into that, and how the EU military could be used to keep those pesky Brits in line.

I did mention that underneath the excerpt.

Funny thing is, Clause 5 of Article 50 does say there is a “way back” for former member states.
If a State which has withdrawn from the Union asks to rejoin, its request shall be subject to the procedure referred to in Article 49.
And Article 49 reads thus:
Any European State which respects the values referred to in Article 2 and is committed to promoting them may apply to become a member of the Union. The European Parliament and national Parliaments shall be notified of this application. The applicant State shall address its application to the Council, which shall act unanimously after consulting the Commission and after receiving the consent of the European Parliament, which shall act by a majority of its component members. The conditions of eligibility agreed upon by the European Council shall be taken into account.

The conditions of admission and the adjustments to the Treaties on which the Union is founded, which such admission entails, shall be the subject of an agreement between the Member States and the applicant State. This agreement shall be submitted for ratification by all the contracting States in accordance with their respective constitutional requirements. …
These of course were expedited for territorial expansions that the EU lusted after for their strategic importance, e.g. Greece and Cyprus.

Hey Merkel, they voted to get OUT, not how to get in.

You pay to support the failed socialist states like Greece.

That cannot happen as Scotland is part of the UK and therefore will not be able to remain on its own.
It would have to get independence and then apply to join as a separate country, that could take years, especially if they take their portion of the national debt with them, then their sovereign debt would not allow them to use the Euro.
There are a lot of stumbling blocks in the way for Scotland to break loose and then have the Brussels be their master.

Doesn’t Merkel realize that GB doesn’t want to go back?

What make her think she so important, after what she has turned her country into, so righteous....

BTW, I may as well include Article 2.
The Union is founded on the values of respect for human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law and respect for human rights, including the rights of persons belonging to minorities. These values are common to the Member States in a society in which pluralism, non-discrimination, tolerance, justice, solidarity and equality between women and men prevail.
It reads like all its doctrines were raided from the USSR’s constitution. Or the Democratic Party’s various pet issues.

There’s no way back for the EU.

Its highly ridiculous ECB and negative interest rates, its 8 year depression forced on Greece. Massive debt of Italy, Spain and Portugal, its Merkel and Clinton imposed immigration policy.

It is the proto-fascist EU which has no way back
