Battleground state polls show Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton locked in a tight race for the White House with just more than four months to go before Election Day.
Clinton has so far failed to pull away in the 10 states likely to determine the outcome of the 2016 election, even as Trump has suffered through what some political observers describe as the worst stretch theyve seen a major presidential candidate endure.
Trump in the last few weeks has fired his campaign manager, seen Republicans flee from his campaign and released embarrassingly low fundraising figures.
Yet he is running competitively with Clinton in the states that will decide the winner of the White House after what may be looked back on as the low point of his campaign.
If weve learned anything this cycle, its that this is the Donald Trump election and none of the normal rules apply, Monmouth University pollster Patrick Murray told The Hill.
President Obama coasted to reelection in 2012 by defeating GOP nominee Mitt Romney in nine out of 10 battleground states: Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin.
He lost North Carolina, which he had won four years earlier.
Heading into the 2016 conventions next month, polls in those 10 states show close races across the board.
The polling suggests Clinton has an edge because she has leads in six of the 10 states, while Trump is only consistently leading in North Carolina.
Clintons lead, however, is just a percentage point or two in most of the states.
Clintons largest lead is in Wisconsin, a state Democrats havent lost in a presidential election since 1984. According to a CBS News-YouGov poll released Sunday, she has a 5-point lead in the Badger State.

Pennsylvania is the battleground giving Democrats the most heartburn.
The contest in New Hampshire, which has gone for the Democratic candidate in five of the last six presidential cycles, is also a toss-up, with the latest poll showing the candidates are tied.
Trump and Clinton are tied in Ohio, but Clinton holds a 3.4 point lead over Trump in Florida, according to the RCP average of polls
you can only cheat in an election if it’s close.
if the election heavily favors the other guy, you cannot cheat without people becoming suspicious.
therefore, put out lots of polls showing a close election. when the election rolls around, everyone expects a coin flip... allowing you to cheat without fear of raising suspicion.
Hillary will win Florida. ~90% of Jewish vote. Lets compare notes in November...
Sorry folks, I’m not buying any of the polls. Pure BS.
Whats meant to discourage Trump’s people will backfire and cause lazy leftists to stay home and watch it on TV - after all the polls show HildaAwfulbitch way, way ahead, no need to vote!
And I will make a prediction. Unless she is indicted, Hillary will win, period. The Dem's have the media on their side, and any small misstep Trump makes will be blown all out of proportion.
So Trump needs to be very careful! But he has not shown that caution thus far. The primaries are over. Yet Trump still talks off-the-cuff, as if he's talking to some GOP primary crowd. That's a losing proposition.
And I say that with a heavy heart. If Hillary wins, it will be Obama Part II, on steroids. The Republic will not survive that.
This has not even started. Calm down. Hillary is an obvious criminal. She is so stupid she reads “ sigh” on her teleprompter. She failed the bar exam, And she lied to the aggrieved parents of our Benghazi national heroes. And she is a cussing bitch. Just hold on folks. Trump wins EVERY STATE!!
Excellent analysis.
Shilling and then cheating. The press, academia...
While all the while, showering praise on Hillary and mud on Trump.
It’s all they’ve got.
If state polls are as skewed as the national polls, Trump is ahead.
What? Do these otherwise intelligent people go full-retard, come election time?
Sorry folks, Im not buying any of the polls. Pure BS.
I agree. The key to winning will be our side getting out the vote.
Put a sign up at a busy intersection, for one day count the honks for a Vote for Trump sign, hext day count the honks for a Vote for Hillary.
Mrs. Clinton's a$$ is grass and Trump is the lawnmower.
They are probably going to have to give Clinton a list of the debate questions a few days ahead of time.
“And I will make a prediction. Unless she is indicted, Hillary will win, period.”
Not so fast.... The CBS polls in FL, NC, CO and WI are the best news Trump has gotten so far. The WI and CO are great news...these all are in play or better. The stage could be set.
Ive spent alot of time on www.270towin.com and am finding some interesting information. In each of these 4 swing states except NC which he lost in 2012, Obama won each both years, 2008 and 2012. The interesting note is that he lost ground in each state, winning but with a smaller margin from 2008 to 2012. In Fl, AZ, CO, WI, NC, NV, NM, OH, PA, NH, and VA he lost voter % in 2012, in all cases by a considerable amount, even up to 4%. Obama won Florida by less than one % point. Thats 11 states that Trump can win in that are already giving up Obama/Clinton voters.
I’ll agree that Trump has given up ground the past 6 weeks and the judge issue was a mistake, but only in the way he presented it. His campaign is now a completely different animal than his primary machine. He is now in a different mode and I believe he will do what it takes to win.
My wife and me just started to go through our garage and storage closets to find items we dont need and we are going to put them all on Craigslist. We already have enough small items that we will never use to easily sell for $150.00 or more over the next 2 weeks. That would put us over $300 donated so far.
And we have decided to volunteer in Florida to work the phones. We live on a tight budget for sure, and Im guessing many of you are in a better financial position to match what we are doing. If not then do what you can. If you havent donated yet, now is the time! If you think this election will be close, then lets put Trump over the top. If you think he will win, lets make it a big victory, so he can pummel the Rinos in DC.
Bernie Sanders raised over $185 million from small donors. It should not be a stretch for us to get to $200-250 million or more. Seriously, if you haven’t donated yet, you need to sit down and write a check. And of you haven’t donated more than $50, then write another check.
Lets do this !!!
Anyone who can vote for a corrupt, treasonous, power-hungry, amoral, truly evil witch doesn’t deserve to be considered an American, IMO.
I admit, it’s not Miami, but everyone I talked to in the Keys liked Trump.
