Thank goodness I captured the unexpurgated “Blazing Saddles” when I still had HBO.

The 30th anniversary DVD of "Blazing Saddles" is unedited:

It also includes interviews with the surviving cast at that time (2004) and commentary by Mel Brooks.

Poor Carl Reiner. His son is the “Meathead” to this very day.

Brooks wrote the book of the 1962 Broadway musical ‘All-American’ with songs by composer Charles Strouse and lyricist Lee Adams. All three are still alive.

With all the Brooks gold out there I seem to remember one of his lines from Robin Hood, Men In Tights: “Come on boys, you just gotta nip the tip! The ladies love it.”

He produced Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein in the same year (1974). Unbelievable talent.

I still wish he’d done a parody of “The Matrix”. So much potential there.

According to Mel’s commentary track for Blazing Saddles, Richard Pryor wrote that Mongo line.

Here's a link to Mel's 1966 interview in Playboy. Great read. (And Happy Birthday, Mel ... and many more!) 🎂
