Well, to be fair, I think he’s a very thoughtful guy who is genuinely an adherent of conservative philosophy.
Actually implementing policy isn’t his measure. It’s the faithfulness to the policy.
I think he took it for granted (like many conservative talkers) that his audience was similarly dedicated. Turns out a lot of conservatives are rightfully frustrated, not so much with the GOP’s ineptness when it comes to slowing Obama and his liberal agenda, but with the lack of any kind of enduring, comparable agenda goals during 2003-2006, when the GOP has the presidency and Congress.
I think this blindsided all of them. They’re in the business of ideas (like National Review, etc). We’re in the business of reality on the ground. It was a disconnect that was growing and the break had to happen.
I’m inclined to think that this break is a good thing, even if it leads to some time for painful adjustment.
Just because he isn’t for or against yes I said against Trump doesn’t make him a non conservative. See unlike many on here I listen to him every day on podcast. You will not get any more conservative than Levin. Is he upset Cruz lost? Sure he is. I’d expect him to be but I also know come election time he’ll pull the trigger for him.
He is doing EXACTLY as I’d expect a real conservative to do. Not get swept up in a movement of emotion (a populist movement reminiscent of Obama movement). See I’m voting for Trump knowing HE has never been a conservative in his life. I want Washington turned upside down. However if Levin were not doing what he was doing (Fully vetting the cantidate and bring conservative influence on him, aka pull him further right) then I’d call Levin a fraud. Now if those on here wish to call Trump (which clearly he is not) a conservative then fair enough but to cloud what conservatism is by labeling Levin not one implying that Trump is well I’ll have to call ya on it. Let’s not get the terms confused, Trump Is a populist and I am A-ok with that but you’d have to completely warp and contort your mind to say he is conservative. Trump is about as conservative as Obama loves America
For somebody who is supposed to know the Constitution, he doesn’t know that Cubanadians are not eligible.
It is hard to believe, but can't be denied at this point. For him to even voice a lot of his current nonsense proves he has no true or honest character. "Free trade" is clearly his alter, whether it be with oppressive Communists or not.
