Body Language [Blinking] Talks in 2016 Election

Whether it’s a nervous hair twirl, a quavering voice, or a sweating public speaker, we know that body language affects our perception of the people around us. What we may not know is how much. With the 2016 presidential election in full swing, we can look to the nominees to see what their body language may be saying about the success of their campaigns, and about their potential ability to win the election. Yes — a few gestures can be a clue to the path to the Oval Office.

Janine Driver, president of the Body Language Institute in Alexandria, Virginia, points to Hillary Clinton’s tendency to shrug her shoulders. “A shoulder shrug indicates uncertainty,” Driver recently told NBC. Although the shrug is not a perfect predictor, Driver admits, it is not helping with Hillary’s message.

On the other hand, Donald Trump, who exhibits exuberant hand motions, is a creative thinker, Driver said. (No, the size of his hands isn’t a factor.) [SNIP]

Joseph Tecce, an associate psychology professor at Boston College, is something of an expert in the field, having studied many past elections.

"The best predictor is blink rate — which has been good for eight out of nine elections," he told LifeZette.

Donald Trump has a blink rate of 64 blinks per minute, whereas Hillary has shown an average of 40 blinks per minute. The acceptable range for blinking on television is 30 to 50 blinks per minute, Tecce said.

"My prediction as a body language scientist [is] Trump will lose the election," he said.

Trump has GOT to bring this up at his rallys and make a hillarious spectacle of this body language expert. It would make him ever more endearing to his base.

I am tempted to go with the Trump in a walk..especially with polling over-samples of democRATS by 10-12 percentage points.

The left knows that if Trump wins he is going to expose them all, and they will stop at nothing to prevent it.

Even with more voters across the board registered as Democrats, they always help us elect Republicans. They have helped us on many occasions. Reagan is a nice example.

Republicans have always needed Democrat votes.

It’s just that they call these Dem voters by another name. They are called “Independents”, now.

I’d have more respect for these charlatans if they divined their forecasts by the time honored way, examining chicken entrails.

Here’s my body language analysis. First Trump stands up there are a leader. Throw the dime store blink analysis out. It’s only worth a dime. Trump is tall not short and dumpy. How many short and dumpy leader have there been in the past. How well did they do?
Trump’s speech is positive and uplifting, Hillary’s is whiny and condensing.

Oh by the way who is a crook? Why crooked Hillary!!!!

Well there it is.

There was an article the other day about a guy whos computer program thats picked the winner correct since 1992, picked Trump easily. So much so he did not want to believe it, apparently hes a liberal.

Think if we’re going to base it on stuff like this, lets go with the ones that have a good track record.

Some years back my immediate boss at the major hospital where I worked was the medical director of our department (the ER).He was a graduate of Harvard University and Harvard Medical School and his entire post graduate training was at Harvard teaching hospitals. He was *not* a stupid man.

He once told me that before speaking to large groups...a regular occurrence given his title...he took a beta blocker (which many professional musicians take before performances). He had a fear of public speaking...a *very* common fear including among intelligent, well educated people (like my boss).

I wonder how reliable the measurements mentioned in this piece are.

When Perot was running for president, he was interviewed. Afterwards, some guy like this marveled “MY god, it is scary, 15 minutes straight and he NEVER blinked!”

I remember that. He stared at the interviewer like a fox at a rabbit.
