Turkey's Erdogan Apologizes for Downing Russian Jet
Russian trade restrictions were placed on Turkey after the incident, and Putin has said they would not be lifted unless an apology was forthcoming.

I figure Erdogan knows the Turkish military is on a hair trigger waiting for the right excuse to throw him out and take over but he can't do a damn thing about it. So, he's trying to straighten out some of the problems he's caused hoping that'll give him some chance of staying in charge a while longer.

Looks like BREXIT put the stake in Turkey’s ambition to join the EU. They see the writing on the wall, by the time the EU lets them join there won’t be an EU left anymore.
