Experts point to North Korean precedent, though say chances of abduction low

Kim Jong Un reportedly ordered the abduction of South Korean citizens, local newspapers wrote on Friday.

While dubious of the original report, three experts told NK News said that while chances the odds of seeing an abduction are low, there is some precedent.

“It would be very hard to officially confirm (the report’s claim). We are in the process of confirming it but do believe the chance exists,” a spokesperson from Ministry of Unification (MoU) said during a Friday regular briefing.

The news was first reported by Yonhap, with the article later spreading among other local news agencies. But the original piece failed to give out any credible source for the claim, only quoting an “informed source in North Korean matters.”

In the article, the anonymous source told media on Friday that Kim Jong Un, angered by the April mass-defection of the North Korean restaurant workers to the South, ordered a “retaliation terror attack” on South Koreans.

The major targets of Pyongyang’s retaliation are reportedly regular South Korean customers of North Korean restaurants abroad, Yonhap said, adding the employees are planning to lure South Koreans into the enclosed reception rooms to knock them out with anesthetic drugs and abduct them.

“For this purpose, many North Korean restaurants operating in China are increasing the number of enclosed reception rooms,” the anonymous source said.

It won't surprise me if they abduct a few. Note to self: stay away from any Koreans who become suddenly friendly and invite you to a dinner at a N. Korean restaurant. On the other hand, it does not have to be at a restaurant if they really want to do it.

Her book was fantastic (though I’m not sure if it was translated into English) and described her training at a Nork spy school, learning sabotage, E&E, language, culture, etc in order to pass as Japanese.

She blew up an airliner in 1987, killing over 100 innocent people.

She was with an older Nork who did succeed in swallowing his suicide pill, he died.

She was very pretty, ruthless and tough.

Here she is, not a really great photo. She was quite an athlete and one time very briefly I think met Kim Jong Il in person right before she started operations training.

She posed as the grand-daughter and the older male agent pretended as if he was her grandfather.

On a multi-leg flight on a layover they placed a small bomb into the stow sleeve of the airliner seat in front of where they were sitting, then they got off the plane.

The were aware of the sensitivity of their mission, so she wondered if simply activating the bomb timer would in fact detonate the bomb --she had heard rumors from other Nork agents that this had happened before and that it was, uh....a risk of employment.

They got busted somewhere in the middle-east.
