Sadly I do.
Ijust wrote my exam paper on “A certain slant of light”.
I know her rhyme scheme.
I am not trying to be clever, nor intelligent.
I have been up all night celebrating brexit.
Need to go to bed soon.
And to tell you the truth?
I still have no idea what “A certain slant of light” really was about.
Re Her poems, don't feel badly, many people often have some trouble deciphering some of her poetry.
HUUUUUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRAH re BREXIT ! We on this side of the pond are celebrating with you.
It is about feeling seasonal affective disorder (SAD), a kind of depression that people get in the winter when days are short. The "slant of light" is the direction that the light shines on winter afternoons, just before the sun slips below the horizon on an all-too-short winter day.
I don't know if you'll find that interpretation in a discussion of poetry, but I am certain that anyone afflicted by SAD would recognize what Dickinson was writing about.
