why? what examples do you have?
What if Merkel retaliates for the Brexit vote by naturalizing all her muzzie invaders? Then they’re free to emigrate to Britain just like the Poles.
How we laughed at those who said the Chunnel should never have been built.
If you follow the trends...the youth vote went like two to one to stay in the EU. In most rural areas of Europe (UK too)...a lot of young people go and get educated or trade...and they leave the rural areas...preferring urban zones for more jobs and lively atmosphere. Their belief is that jobs were at stake and they voted because of the job threat.
Same way for Scotland voting two-to-one to stay in....they saw a fair amount of EU money which came in various forms to the region and felt they were better off under the EU.
I don’t see any corruption or cheating on the election....seems like they ran a decent episode, and it was fairly close.
Just heard a soundbite of him saying, “I think it’s great.” When faced with a followup by the BBC reporter, “I think it’s a terrific thing.” That was it. Concise, in support of the British process, and no falling for the reporter’s attempts to engage him.
In terms of unity, it's a mistake as Scotland will leave
In terms of local pride, it would be good -- the English would feel good for going it alone
Boris and the Donald. The bad hair axis that could be just as consequential for the world as Reagan and Thatcher
The EU is not a one-gov-world-order. The EU is a squabbling group of nations that jealously guard their own privileges.
They wont' become great again - that time is gone
I totally think it had much more to do with “English (local) Pride” than anything else. Though jobs and immigration were serious & overarching issues for rural voters in particular.
Problem is, as stated in previous posts here, what will a new PM do about those issues?
I used to live in the UK, decades ago. Thatcher, as I said in another thread before Brexit referendum, was against EEC or EEC’s too much influence in the UK political affairs. But even then she saw the economic benefits. That was in the 1980s, of course and the EU has been a continuation of EEC. But not even Thatcher campaigned to move the UK out of EEC. She looked to minimise its influence on the UK.
BTW, muslim immigration problem to the UK is not because of the EU. It’s been because of UK’s own gov’ts - labour or conservative. It has a long history, certainly for the last 4 decades.
I understand Brits or some are fed up. Let’s see what happens from now on..
No way qualm would be granted 2 US senators. That would be a disaster for the United States.

Hurrah!
Agreed.
The Brits should have another referendum on whether Cameron should be hung as a traitor.
Congrats to the Brits this morning.
This is their Independence Day.
Would you pool your resources with the neighbors on the street you live on? Leave your door open so that any of them can walk in at anytime? Let them go through your kitchen at will? No? So then why is this pushed as a “solution” for any country?
Obama should resign too.
Make England and America great again!
how many no british voted?
20-25 %
>>>>”Would you pool your resources with the neighbors on the street you live on?”<<<<
Yes, if it suited, and was mutually agreed with my neighbours & reciprocated.
>>>>”Leave your door open so that any of them can walk in at anytime? Let them go through your kitchen at will?”<<<<
Since you put it that way, naturally, No.
But the above is one Extreme end of a continuum. The other equally is:
I would not shut the door to isolate myself on the street I live in, to live in a pristine environment & conditions, because it can’t be reasonably and realistically done, in a very much interconnected political, social and economic world. Longer term, it can’t be sustained.
>>>”No? So then why is this pushed as a solution for any country?”<<<
Extreme ends of a continuum are not desirable in my view.
