Personally, I could care less what they do with the guns and ammo but I’d bet the family does NOT BURN the $250,000 in cash.

Why of course they won’t. They will need that cash to pay the estate/inheritance taxes on the fair-market value of the weapons.
They’ll likely need each and every dollar, because even that cash will assessed.
