General Staff: It is Russian Patience, not US’, that is Waning over Syria

It is Russia’s patience - and not the United States’ - that is waning over the situation in Syria, the chief of Russia’s General Staff, Valery Gerasimov, has told the media.

Earlier, US Secretary of State, John Kerry said that while the Syrian President, Bashar Assad and Russia were demanding strict compliance with ceasefire in the whole territory of Syria, the Syrian government troops were pushing ahead with their operation to recapture Aleppo. He remarked that Russia should be aware that patience on Assad’s Syria was wearing thin.

"If anyone’s patience on Syria is waning, it is our patience, not the United States’. We are in full compliance with our obligations to maintain ceasefire and ensure national reconciliation in Syria. In the meantime, the American side always has problems with the ‘opposition under its control," Gerasimov said.

The Obama Administration is supporting al-Qaeda in its attempt to overthrow the Syrian Assad Government and replace it with Muslim Brotherhood leadership

He's done that in Libya and Egypt...why not Syria? Putin knows what he's up to and won't stand for it. The administration is playing a very dangerous game and when obie loses we'll be the ones to pay up.

The Russians don’t know what they’re dong. Let then pay the costs. Hopefully Assad is smarter than Saddam and Khadafy.

I don't think that's what obama really wants but I think he's stumbling into it. Of course, I could be wrong and that's exactly what he wants. Who knows? Things I used to laugh at as crazy conspiracy theories seem more plausible with every day that passes with this administration in charge.

Just to clarify:

The US supports non-islamist anti-Assad forces.

The Russians support Assad against all the anti-Assad forces.

There was a ceasefire agreement. Russians and Syrians would not attack non-Islamist anti-Assad forces in Aleppo and we, presumably, would not attack Syrian Defense Forces (SDF). The Russians and Syrians are not upholding their end whereas we continue to not attack SDFs. Hence the “patience is wearing thin” comment.

The Russian-backed Syrian ground forces around Aleppo could be destroyed within a short period of time. Much easier than ISIS. Their tanks and trucks drive around in small convoys all over the place. It’s just a matter of how many JDAMs, Paveways and Hellfires are on hand.Just to clarify:

I think the truth is even more frightening. Obama would like to get into a war with Russia. He hates them over homosexuality and other things.

He has been convinced by some modern Lemays and Lemitzers that a war with Russia can be sharp, decisive, will not go nuclear, and can affect a change in the Russian government, which will then be brought into the internationalist bankers fold.

Reinforced by the Generals, he thinks he can have a short fast war, and that they will collapse. Its incredibly dangerous.

“The US supports non-islamist anti-Assad forces.”

I guess the government told you that. So name one please. There are no rebel forces that are not full on sunni jihadis looking to establish a sunni theocratic state. None.

"how crazy is that???"

That's really, really crazy.

Does anybody think Crimea is a reason to go to war with Russia? Let Russia have it. How about the Eastern Ukraine? How is that of strategic importance to the US or NATO? Syria? The Russians are actually fighting the filthy jihadis. How does that make them an enemy?

Russia is facing two large problems. Their muslim population is radical and dangerous and has perpetrated several vicious and deadly terror attacks. In addition they have a billion resource hungry Chinese sitting just south of the vast resources of Siberia.

When you really think about it, Russia is confronted by the same set of enemies that we are. Wouldn't they make a better ally than adversary?

I do not understand what this story is about. I am assuming that the US and NATO are flying over Syrian air space as a matter of routine. The article says Russia has given us locations of rebel sites and that we have not bombed them. But to my knowledge we are not engaged directly in that conflict. We may be arming rebels but not more that that. So what is Russia trying to say? Are they trying to drag us into the conflict?

If we back the rebels, then it means we are working against Russia and Assad. So why would Russia expect us to bomb those we support? I think I do understand one bit which is that Russia is saying that we are trying their patience because we support rebels and claim their attacks are insignificant, but then we holler foul if Syria fires back. Sadly that kind of tactic is routine for democrats, do as I say not as I do.

And when we are attacking the Syrian Army, what exactly do you believe the Russian SU-35s and S-400 batteries will be doing? Have the Russians done anything in Syria that leads you to believe that they will accept the Syrian government being attacked and will close down and run away.

America has ZERO national interest in fighting in Syria. There is no authorization of force, nothing. This is simply Obama piracy, nothing more.

I do too, but that’s the vibe I get. Lots of “we can shoot em up conventionally, and they will fold and back down”.
And I think Obama loves it and would love to be in office when it happens.

He might even see it as a way to declare a national emergency.

Yes, he believes that he can “kick in the door and the whole structure will collapse”.

Just like Adolph.
