The rest of the European Union nations are looking at the possibility of a British departure from the bloc with disbelief, trepidation and anguish. But they are also preparing to retaliate.
If Britons do vote in a referendum on Thursday to leave the European Union, they can expect a tough and unforgiving response, with capitals across the Continent intent on deterring other countries from following the British example, European officials and analysts said.
In other words, Britain will be made to suffer for its choice.
With other issues pressing, including Greek debt, the migrant crisis and terrorism, the largest and most powerful European nations will want clarity, and are not likely to tolerate a long period of post-referendum confusion.
“In is in — out is out,” the powerful German finance minister, Wolfgang Schäuble, told Spiegel magazine. “I hope and believe that the British will ultimately decide against Brexit. The withdrawal of Britain would be a heavy loss for Europe.”
The president of the European Council, Donald Tusk, spoke apocalyptically about a British exit, or “Brexit,” to the German tabloid Bild. He said all members of the European Union would suffer, as would the postwar structure of Europe that had kept the peace.
“Why is it so dangerous?” Mr. Tusk asked. “No one can foresee what the long-term consequences would be. As a historian, I fear that Brexit could be the beginning of the destruction of not only the E.U., but also of Western political civilization.”

Hey pal, it is the US military, our armor, our jets, our bases, personnel,our tax dollars and the surrounding businesses that have kept the peace while you surrender monkeys have had your fill at the trough of free goodies you socialist scum! I hope they exit as well as us. Maybe then just maybe each can fend for themselves

Being threatened not to leave the E.U. sounds like the E.U. is a bully and stands only to gain for themselves if Britain remains ‘in’.
The thugs keep threatening - adding more ammunition to the exit side. This may be Britain’s last chance at self determination.

Welfare recipients always threaten terrible consequences if their unearned money is threatened.
Remaining in the EU is, for England, akin to “paying the Dane Geld”, as Kipling so accurately put it.

Perhaps a successful BREXIT will exceed all expectations and become the first of a line of dominoes to collapse the EU. One can only hope sanity prevails and the people of the European continent recognize the power they still yield and reclaim their voice. Never should an unelected, unaccountable force such as the EU ever be permitted to usurp the will of a free people again.

If Brexit is successful get used to the term Frexit as Marine LePen has promised to take France out of the EU.

America, to be fair, did ( and does) a lot of conquering (formerly more successfully than morernly, but some governmental officials still can get rich from it)
Unlike the United States, which went to war to keep the states in it's union.
So did Britain, which is why I find these threats equally laughable. No European nation except maybe Germany could pose a credible military threat and they already stood off against them twice with success.
Also the US went to war because a military installation was fired on by rebel forces. By contrast Britain doesn’t HAVE to fire a single shot to leave the E.U., though standing some young Muslim male ‘refugees’ in front of machine guns would go a long way both toward national security and proving they’re serious.
