My mind flashed back to the Battle of Britain in 1939 (no, I'm not old enough to have seen it personally).

England stands alone against a united and malevolent Europe!

But that's a false equivalency here - it's not near so neat and tidy.

The Chunnel is still open, people and freight flow through every day, nearly unrestricted.

They're still building Airbus planes, the consortium didn't dissolve. I don't think it will.

British car companies are partly (or wholly) owned by German car companies. Doubt they will divest any time soon.

Will all of this fraternization come to an end if Brexit is voted in? Somehow I doubt it.

Silly to think a public referendum would stop any of this. Let the people have their little tantrum, then it's back to business as usual.

There is still a lot of grandstanding and saber-rattling on the pro-EU side from the original members of the European Coal and Steel Community. It’s an indicator of their intent, to some degree.
