Are they actually Baptists or impostors? They are best described as a law firm, as many of their members are lawyers. Their goal is not to protest, but to provoke a reaction. Then they can sue the city for not providing enough security, or whatever.

They are Baptists, independent and fundamental; they look to the Bible and the Baptist creeds as their authority; and they protest against almost anyone with other beliefs.
