Mark Sanford Is More Vulnerable Than Ever

U.S. Rep. Mark Sanford – who was running unopposed for the Palmetto State’s first congressional district (following a hard-fought 2013 special election win) – saw an abnormally-high percentage of people oppose him via write-in votes.

Specifically, 6.59 percent of the first district electorate wrote in the name of someone other than Sanford on their ballot. That total dwarfed the write-in percentages put up against other unopposed GOP candidates at the statewide level – including treasurer Curtis Loftis (1.25 percent) and adjutant general Bob Livingston (1.03 percent).

"Mark Sanford meets with Immigration Reform Supporters"

He wants to shut Gitmo as well.

Pity he ran against an anti-confederate-flag candidate.

He only won 55-45 in the primary.

I think he is known as the master-debater!

People in SC make weird choices in their officials. Sanford may be better still than his Democrat foe.

I expect this may be Sanford’s final term in Congress. He may run again for Governor in 2018. It’s sad that he was once in the top tier for Presidential candidates.

Congress has nothing to do with the Confederate Flag. Anyone who voted against Jenny Horne solely because of that is a ninny.

Anyway, Horne was a credible opponent (State Rep.) who spent a respectable 100K dollars in her campaign. So I’m not very shocked the race was somewhat close, I’d imagine distaste for his sex scandal leaves a sizable minority who would vote for any credible primary challenger over him.

Donald Trump may have been a factor, Horne was an early backer who offers him full-throated support whist Sanford has been highly critical and only reluctantly supports him now.

But she sounds like she might be a RINO, she went to a fag rally and told them that she supports “equality”. Fail.

On Gitmo, it’s she who was on the correct side, but all in all in sounds to me like Sanford was the better choice.

Theordore R: “Sanford may be better still than his Democrat foe.”

May be? The rat, Dimitri Cherny is a “progressive” Berner. Even if he was a “moderate” he would still be in the party of Obama/Hillary, PELOSI, and Black supremacists. There is no question that Sanford is MUCH better than him in the same manner that not having HIV is much better than having HIV.

Happily in addition to being a commie far out of step with the district, the Soviet rat Cherny is a nobody with no money, so Sanford is in no danger in the general election.

As for Sanford’s political future, I don’t think he has one, I couldn’t imagine he’d be able to get elected Governor again.

I’ll be surprised if Mark Sanford doesn’t make a run for Lindsey Graham’s seat when it’s up.

He’d run against Graham or only if it’s open? Do you think he can win?

I’d love to see Graham finally get a real primary challenger.

I think he’d have trouble statewide. As I said, he may run for Governor again in 2018, but I don’t expect him to take the nomination. I hope President Trump gives Linda an Ambassadorship to Fudgepackistan to get him out of the Senate seat early.
