Trump banner that caused unease for East Boston's Latinos replaced by Democrat's sign

In the weeks following Donald Trump's victory in Massachusetts' Republican primary with 49 percent of the vote, signs supporting the bombastic New York real estate mogul caused unease in East Boston.

For many in the heavily Latino area, it was especially unsettling when a large Trump banner with his name and campaign slogan – "Make America Great Again" – went up above the entryway to a neighborhood laundromat, the Soap Box on Meridan Street.

Trump launched his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination last year with a tirade against illegal immigration, labeling Mexicans who entered the United States illegally "rapists' and "criminals," and vowing to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexican border.

Violence and crime by Democrats is excessive:

Puopolo — a 69-year-old veteran who described himself as conservative politically – said he put up a half-dozen or so Trump signs on his buildings, but most were either torn down or vandalized.

Poor little snowflakes. But if they are here legally why would any name or banner unsettle them?

We sure don’t want those East Boston illegals being uneasy. Although they are like the in laws who over stayed their welcome, we still need to pamper them and kiss their asses. It’s the “patriotic” thing to do. As Barry says, “It’s who we are.”

There is a letter to the editor in the Boston Herald today from a woman in Watertown. She said Trump insults anyone who isn't a “white male.” I didn't think people from Watertown read the Boston Herald. Isn't it frowned by the PC-holier-than-thou Boston Globe crowd?

I thought South Boston was the bad area. It looked like crap the last time I was there many years ago.

Is it still called “Bean Town” or have they updated it to “BeanerTown”?

OK: Are the Hispanics in Boston law abiding, hardworking people or gangbangers, welfare parasites, etc? I just don’t know anymore but would like to hear from FR people who have been there or live/d there.

There is nothing worse for America than a Massachusetts liberal/Marxist or a west coast lib/red.

So sad that one of the birthplaces of American freedom has been overrun by the reds and crazies for so long, who have replaced the Redcoats and the Loyalists.

A 2 family home in South Boston can now cost up to 3 million dollars. Greater Boston has been totally transformed, for good or ill, into a thriving area.
