Will Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Challenge Mayor de Blasio in 2017?

Politicians are known to kiss babies, rather than their peers. Tell that, however, to Bronx Borough President Democrat Rubén Díaz, who planted what appeared to be a totally spontaneous kiss on the cheek of Manhattan Borough President Democrat Gale Brewer this past June 9.

In defense of Mr. Díaz, whom I interviewed last week in his Grand Concourse office, it could be argued that the kiss, widely viewed throughout the Internet, was more than appropriate for the event that ensued that day. Thousands of residents from both Manhattan and the Bronx had come to join Díaz and Brewer and several other elected officials to celebrate the reopening of The High Bridge, an overpass open to pedestrians and bike riders, connecting the Bronx’s High Bridge neighborhoods with Manhattan’s Washington Heights.

The bridge, which was first built in the middle 1800’s making it the oldest standing bridge in NYC, had been totally shut down following the building of the Harlem River Drive in the 1970’s.

Under the day’s circumstances, Díaz explained with a broad smile on his face, the kiss came naturally: “The peck on the cheek of my good friend and fellow Borough President Brewer came extemporaneously, because I was feeling very pleased to see us after forty long years finally once again reconnected in the Bronx’s south and Manhattan’s north sections…. I was also celebrating because that day was not only a day of joining two areas geographically, but also a day of joining two families together once again.”.... You all have heard the stories I’m sure of all the New York gossip, you know that De Blastoff wouldn’t have won Mayor of ‘piss ville’ if Anthony Weiner, who was running against him, hadn’t been caught ‘sexting’ himself all over the internet like Rivera was, well that being said, the Clinton RICO Crime Family was supporting him, because Weiner was married to none other than the famous ‘Huma’ who is the sex partner of Hillary Clinton...but because of all of this, he bowed out....I wonder what happened to the baby that Anthony and Huma had, anyone know? Are they still married? I don’t think Anthony lives with the ‘Carpetbag’ Clintons so where does he live? And speaking of ‘Carpetbags’ that’s the only reason why the Clintons moved out of the White House and went to New York, Arkansas people didn’t want them back in their State, so where to go that could make Hillary more famous? Well New York of course...

That about sums up my gossip for today on New York, and by the way, I loved New York when I visited there often at the Sloan Kettering Memorial Hospital, there are some really nice people that live and work there....just a reminder, that’s the home of our next POTUS, Donald J. Trump...and not to forget, today is his birthday...Happy Birthday Mr. Trump!!!

Diaz is seen as moderate in NYC. I am in NYC a lot, this upcoming mayoral election in 2017 has national implications for the next 25 years. If De Blasi wins reelection, he’ll see himself as a presidential contender in 2020 or 2024 or 2028. NYC mayors always want to run for president, because they manage the largest city in the World.

Giuliani would be tough if he was governor in 2018. He’s brash and bold. He probably won’t run unless Cuomo is unpopular. If he does run again for NYC Mayor in 2017, he could beat De Blasio. Giuliani Democrats and outer borough voters would vote for him.
