Don’t you think they should be?

In Massachusetts, they are called Correction Facilities. Of course, they’re nothing of the kind, but they should be.

People who cannot be rehabilitated should not be allowed to reenter society.

You are placed in a cage for a certain amount of time for a crime, and then let go.

That is really all there is to it.

This is why we have repeat offenders because it isnt a magic machine that irons out what made people do bad things. Some may come out better for their time, but that is no guarantee.

Prison is punishment for being caught and convicted of an immprisonable crime. A time limit (or not) is set by the judge for incarceration. Various parole boards can increase or decrease time served. Some consideration is given for the prisoner’s attitude and behavior. Rehabilitation is the role of society, not the prison system.
