MIRAMAR, Fla. (WPVI) -- A 40-year-old Philadelphia woman has been charged with murder in the apparent suffocation deaths of her 7-month-old son and 3-year-old daughter during a visit to South Florida.
It happened Wednesday afternoon in Miramar, a suburb of Fort Lauderdale.

Our next door neighbors just got 2 foster children, a brother and sister. He’s almost 2, and she’s almost 3. They are just precious.

Why were these kids back with their mother?
My little brother called a little while ago and told me what happened. The DHS took the kids from foster care and gave them back to their mother because the ‘father’ showed up.

St Leo is the baby boy. Ariel & I spent some time together at family events; I couldn’t get enough of her. She was so cute, dressed as a little bee and ‘trick or treating’ with my wife & daughter, my brother’s family and half the kids in the neighborhood.
She self-identified as an abortionist.

WOW I am so sorry. Seems like a judge or formal process should have been involved in determining what requirements should be for the parents to regain custody.
My deepest sympathy to you and all of the family. This is SO sad.
My niece and her husband just completed the adoption of a little girl, who is now 3. They had her as foster parents since birth, but there were many steps in the process, including they had to wait a year before the judge would revoke the parental rights, other details with which I am not familiar.
My guess is that the defense attorney will go for postpartum depression.
Women who kill their kids generally end up better off than the men that do it.
Wow, I am so sorry for your family’s loss. I hope they continue to reach out to foster children. God Bless them for trying to help. I’m sure these precious ones are cradled in His hands now.
DHS needs to reconsider their policies on family reunification and allow loving functional families to adopt these precious children.
