Never-Trump Republicans Start To Make Last-Ditch Plans For Cleveland

WASHINGTON — First, anti-Trump Republicans thought they could beat Donald Trump outright in the primary.

Then, they thought they could hold him under the required threshold number of delegates and beat him in a floor fight at the convention.

After that went out the window, some of the most ardent Trump opponents floated the idea of a third-party conservative option. But the only person who seemed like he really might do it, National Review writer David French, bowed out before it could become a reality. It seemed as though the never-Trump crowd was finally out of options.

“Why don’t the Never Trumpers just admit that they are neo-con artists who would rather see Clinton elected”

That kinda worries me. Which would be worse for some of the big shot Republicans: continuing the establishment under Clinton or being kicked to the curb by President Trump?

Then one cannot believe anything they publish!!!!

Anyone who would try to torpedo the choice of millions of voters in legitimate primaries over a slimy little La Raza judge (appointed by obama, no less) is vile in the extreme!!!!

In the unlikely event that they can pull this off, the result would be the landslide election of Crooked Hillary clinton, and a whole slate of Democrat Senators, Representatives, Governors, etc. etc. That is the MINIMUM evil that can happen, given Hillary’s warmongering and Russia-bating!!!

It wold be far better if these birds could get used to a Trump nomination, and try to work with him as best they can. Or otherwise, simply shut up!

Never Trump enthusiasts will vote for Hillary or stay home. Either way, it is a fractured party that IMHO will never hold up for another election.
I’m hoping that Trump picks a stellar VP to calm this situation down a bit.

“You have to admit they all look a little nervous about what he might say next.”

Yeah, Ivanka and Melania looked a little tense (but still gorgeous). Maybe with primaries over, perhaps the reality of the fall campaign is hitting home.

At this point these people should consider whether they would personally survive should they pull this off. There’s a LOT of anger out there and the angry are fully aware of who these people are. It’s not 20 years ago when they could hide behind a friendly press. Everyone knows their names.

... and Mitt Romney... and Hugh Hewitt... and Glenn Beck... and Jonah Goldberg... and Mona Charen... and RedState... and a few other traitors and/or quislings I’ve doubtless overlooked.

I think you are wrong on that, I’m a Cruzer and I thought Ted came across as stiff like Romney and was challenged seemed to back away or have a lame response.

Listen, Ted is my Senator and I love em but he needs to get street smart and a lot tougher for the big leagues. I’m glad to have him in the Senate.

Let’s hopefully elect Donald and things work out.

If they try to deny Trump the nomination - it will mean the end of the GOP.

I wouldn’t put it past them to try to usurp the will of over 13 million voters.

But if they’re so stupid as to succeed with it, I will vote for Hillary and for every Democrat on the ballot.

This party would not merely be stupid; it would be evil and deserves to be flushed down the drain.

“Why don’t the Never Trumpers just admit that they are neo-con artists who would rather see Clinton elected. Once they’ve publicly admitted that, they can go back to the democrat party from whence they came.”

Exactly right. At this point you either support Trump or you support Hillary. Time to be honest about it.

No, I don't have to admit it (I don't), but you have to admit you're looking for it.

For it to have any chance of success, Cruz would have to part of any attempt to change the convention rules. Even if the eventual chosen one isn’t Cruz, he’d have to help in persuading the faux Trump delegates he and the GOPe “stole” from Trump to play along.

Thank the Lord Trump has amassed over 1500 delegates. Much tougher to pull of the coup than it would have been had Trump had say 1250.

This media feeding frenzy has given a bit of new life to the never Trump morons. No doubt, Erickson, Beck, Crystal are still pimping this BS.

“The Rules Committee have it within their power to install a mechanism whereas if a potential nominee crosses a line or embarrasses the party to an extraordinary degree, delegates can vote for an alternative candidate,” Cooper wrote. “Many in the party believe Trump has already crossed that Rubicon.”

Oh, please, dear! For your information, the Supreme Court has roundly rejected prior restraint!
