Catching card skimmers is a worthy endeavor.

However, civil forfeiture should be strictly illegal. If the price is losing the drug war, it is not too high a price.

FRiends, I am in complete agreement with you.
Civil Forfeiture and Any violation of our constitutional rights is absolutely wrong.

This ERAD bank snoop and seize scheme is definitely going to be abused.
We need solid use guidelines that adhere to the 4th and 5th.
Liberty first and foremost.

Agree on both counts:

>> Catching card skimmers is a worthy endeavor.<<

I just had my card skimmed (or random number generated) and replicated on a card fresh from the card writer. A bunch of parking lot, snack machine, and gas station charges later, the miscreants attempted two charges at a big Nike store for close to $900. Both charges denied of course. The card company was proactive and awesome about it. The rep and I chatted about it for a while, and she said that these guys buy card writers online for $100 or so and off they go.

Yes, especially if filing criminal charges are not a prerequisite. I thought we got rid of the general warrant in 1791.
