I am always amused by the claim that the land in the southwest was part of Old Mexico and therefore should be returned to Mexico. Why does the title to this land only stop at 1821? Does not Spain, France, the Aztec's, Mayan Indians or any of the other 50+ Indian tribes have a claim? Why doesn't Mexico return their land to the native Americans who were living there? Many also seem to forget during the time Mexico lost the land, natives living on the land help the early Non-Spanish settlers defeat Santa Anna. They preferred being part of the US rather than being part of Santa Anna's Tyrannical Regime. Similarly Today, Many choose not to live in corrupt Mexico but to come to the US to live and work.

The Southwest U.S. was never part of Mexico. It was under control of Spain for a short time, though.
