The MSM first tried to play this up as some kind of story about white privilege and racism - then the idiots soon realized that the toddler was actually black. OOoops...

Yes.
Before we knew the identity of the boy, he was assumed to be white; hence, it was his fault and the fault of his privileged white parents.

But since the child is black and under the supervision of black parents, it is the zoo's fault and therefore the taxpayers must pay them restitution for their tragedy.

As it should be. And yes, now the zoo is on the hook!

Exactly. It is incredible that the kid was able to slip into the Gorilla area.

it is the zoo's fault

As it should be. Unless the parents Michael Jacksoned their kid and dropped him, the zoo is responsible. There is no way the zoo can be considered safe if a child can enter an animal enclosure. $$$

I never thought I’d live to see a headline that reads: “Mother won’t be charged in gorilla’s death”.

Seriously.

[[As it should be. And yes, now the zoo is on the hook!]]

That fence the kid climbed over has been there for over 25 years . It’s the same type of fence used at most large zoos across the United States . Millions of kids visit these zoos every year and don’t fall in . It’s not the zoos fault the kid climbed the barrier .

Kids get away and run off and toddlers should be in strollers or leashed . Most people who take toddlers out put them in strollers so they can’t run off .

The kid told the mother he was going to go into the water and took off running . It’s not the zoos fault the kid was not under control .

Mama should be sentenced to spend the next 6 months in a zoo cage with her cell phone. A sign designating her as the most dangerous animal on the planet should hang on the bars.

I am so tired of hearing about this on the news. Between this issue and the Mexican boy who was stabbed by the homeless military vet, nothing else has been on the local news. Enough already.

The zoo might be at fault. It's surprising there wasn't an attendant present. Not just to protect kids because of inattentive parents. To protect the gorillas from anything being thrown into that enclosure.

Besides that, there should've been a plan in place that involved a way to disable the animal without killing it. Otherwise, it didn't belong out in the open.

It's a miracle stuff like that doesn't happen more often. At the Cleveland zoo, for instance, I've wondered about the more "natural" elephant area for these reasons.

You’re right - how could I forget about Ali, and becoming a Muslim and the start of Ramadan. So glad I have ION. Law and Order is on all evening and Criminal Minds tomorrow. Good substitutes for the “This is News?” channels.

It's two pole railings and a 4 ft wide grass area to the edge of the pit. You tell me that's safe.

They've already altered the area. That speaks volumes.

"She had three other kids with her and turned her back. ... And if anyone doesn't believe a 3-year-old can scamper off very quickly, they've never had kids."

Bingo!
