this is a man-made drought.....Absolutely. How can you have a drought in a desert? God gave California X amount of rain every year to replenish desert plants and help the lizards have a yearly amount of water. Man moved in and upset the balance. You cannot have a drought unless all men move out.
The Central Valley is not a desert and has never been one.
Same can be said for the Sierras.
Average rainfall in Sacramento is 21 in per year and average Sierra snow pack above it, in Apr is about 12-16ft.
I’ve always wondered why there was not a country-wide plan of pipes that could deliver water where needed. May sound stupid, but a plan where each state followed a major plan to divert water from a flooded area to an arid or needy area would —— might —— answer some of the problems.
I suppose ignorance is its own reward.
Water management for PEOPLE and agriculture has been an essential part of civilized man since the Babylonians... perhaps farther back than that.
