My dear FReepathon FRiends,
The oddest thing happened to me yesterday. My UPS driver arrived with a car part that Bryan had sent away for repairs. He carried it into the garage for me,
and when we came out again, there were four or five crows that had flown up to the top of one of our tallest trees, and they were yelling at us, “Caw! caw!
caw!!!!” and so on and on. We ignored them and chatted with each other as we always do (Rick is a really nice guy), and when the crows were getting on my
last nerve, I shouted up at them, “OH BE QUIET!”
We were met with utter silence from the crows. I had no idea that I could make them be silent!
Amazed, Rick and I stood there and didn’t know what to say for the first time in our lives. That whole thing was very odd, and I thought y’all would like
to hear about it. Apparently, human voices can silence crows. I guess...
They know not to be messin’ with TheOldLady!
Crows are very intelligent. They’re also good “watchdogs”. When I hear them calling, I pay attention.
Our UPS guy was just here about a half hour ago. He was clearly terrified of Dinah, who was simply lying on the top step while I was weeding in the yard. I tried to tell him that she is 14, but he was hotfooting it across the yard to get back to the safety of his truck. Nice guy, though. :)
