CORRECTING ANOTHER NEW YORK TIMES’ OPED: “GUN CONTROL THAT ACTUALLY WORKS”

Alan Berlow quotes one person who isn’t worried about gun registration leading to confiscation (“Gun Control That Actually Works,” May 31). But this isn’t very assuring. In 2013, New York City used registration lists to confiscate guns. Americans have seen this happen in California, Chicago, and Connecticut.

Evidence suggests registration has not been important to solving crimes. The D.C. police department stated in a 2013 deposition that it could not “recall any specific instance where registration records were used to determine who committed a crime.” Despite registration since 1960, Hawaii has had a similar experience. In 2012, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police could not provide even a single example of tracing being of more than peripheral importance to solving a case. . . .

Gun control is not about controlling guns and it never has been.

It saddens me that my entire firearms collection was lost in a peculiar boating accident on Lake Michigan years ago.

If they had a point, they wouldn’t have to lie.
They know they are wrong because they know they are lying.

If you have to hide the or lie about having them, it’s time to use them.

I think I am going to invest in dive lessons! The floor of the oceans and lakes must be loaded with those things!

Good grief, it is a funny FR joke often told here.
Either way, voting correctly is what you can do today.

Gun control that works is to keep the criminals in jail where they don’t have access to guns.

“Gun Control works” for them means that very few people have them, the government has said that no more are allowed to be added to the stock, and they cannot be legally transfered to anyone else without a costly and time consuming process controlled by the government.

The legal numbers have been artificially held to an very small percentage of the population, by various inhibitory regulatory mechanisms.

Yes, that is what the disarmists want and expect from “gun control”.

The referenced article holds up NFA law as proof registration works: machine guns et al are strictly registered, few unto no crimes committed with them, no confiscations (arguably).

The problem with their reasoning is that taken to that degree, NFA basically proves how useless (at best) registration is. Only the most law abiding submit. Millions of such guns remain unregistered. The registration amounts to a list of people for whom there is absolutely no reason to register, and whom the government would be very unwise to attempt wholesale confiscation from. This is NOT where the Left really wants to go.

Never let a good crisis go to waste. They don’t have to be related or relative.

For example: I dropped my keys and it started to rain 2 days in a row. I’m now being booked to places that need rain so I can throw my keys on the ground there.
