Belly and The Weeknd protest Donald Trump by canceling their gig on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’

Canadian musicians The Weeknd and Belly decided Wednesday that protesting Donald Trump was more important than publicity.

The duo was set to perform Belly’s hit “Might Not,” a song about excess and drawbacks, on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” but balked at the idea of sharing the studio with GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump. Belly, who is Muslim, said in a statement to the Associated Press that Trump’s proposed ban on Muslim immigration could potentially limit his ability to perform in America.

“For me, being Muslim and being somebody that appreciates my access here in America, I love the fact that I’m able to be here,” Belly said. “To play my part in this business is a privilege and a beautiful thing. The fact that I could lose that ability through the actions of someone such as Donald Trump isn’t right to me. At all.”
