The Battle Against ‘Hate Speech’ on College Campuses Gives Rise to a Generation That Hates Speech
Newsweek ^ | May 26, 2016 | Nina Burleigh

Posted on 05/28/2016 5:56:08 AM PDT by C19fan

During his 18 years as president of Lebanon Valley College during the middle of the past century, Clyde Lynch led the tiny Pennsylvania liberal arts institution through the tribulations of the Great Depression and World War II, then raised $550,000 to build a new gymnasium before he died in 1950. In gratitude, college trustees named that new building after him.

Neither Lynch nor those trustees could have predicted there would come a day when students would demand that his name be stripped from the Lynch Memorial Hall because the word lynch has “racial overtones.” But that day did come.

We all know this has been going on but I find it funny that a modern day Girondists shocked at what she started has birthed modern day Jacobins. Can't wait for the Jacobins to send more Girondists like Nina to the metaphorical guillotine. Trump is the Napoleonic reaction.

Liberals are hilarious in sanitizing the language to avoid being perpetually offended.

The jokes literally write themselves about PC comportment.

My writing about this topic will need to be done rather niggardly until my thoughts can become more formulated.

Isn’t there a “Lynch” in the present administration? Shouldn’t that name be removed?

Due to rampant, institutionalized political correctness, towards the end of my career in the military industrial complex, I spoke to few people I did not already know. When I spoke to people I knew well, we both would look around to see who might overhear even if the conversation was about normal matters. The official standard for non-PC speech was if an uninvolved third party overhears it and deems it, racist, homophobic or some other PC standard then it is, by definition, those things. After explaining this to me the HR manager told me, don’t let that stop you from being your natural self. I said something like, “You mean that anything I say can be interpreted through any number or unknown filters by people who may or may not be hostile and that their interpretation of what I said could get me fired? And I’m supposed to just act like that isn’t so?” His response was a mumbled well, it’s not that bad.

Living in the Boston area I have known many people with the surname “Lynch”.

These young people are not only out-of-control,they are just plain stupid.

Nina Burleigh once said:

“I would be happy to give him(Bill Cinton) a blowjob just to thank him for keeping abortion legal. I think American women should be lining up with their Presidential kneepads on to show their gratitude for keeping the theocracy off our backs.”

I thought that her tolerance for outrage is rather high. What happened? Getting old?

So rich that rags like NW that helped create this loony-bin culture by giving the insane a voice are now crying about it. You raised a generation of pit vipers and now you’re complaining that they’re biting you.

All this helps explains Trump’s allure. For once we have a public figure willing to take these crybabies on by telling them to “shut up, sit down”. The American youth need more verbal spankings like this. Their next goal is to “reform” the culture at work. God help us all.

Can't disagree, however it's the school bureaucrats who give in to the rabble-rousers who are truly stupid and cowards.

You should have included a TRIGGER WARNING. After reading it, I had to retreat to my Safe Space, and rent a Therapy Dog.

We have a generation obsessed with texting and their pda’s. Speech and discourse to them is something unfamiliar.

The late Teddy “Swimmer” Kennedy was not only a drunk & a negligent killer, but a rapist enabler as well. Following the 1991 rape trial of his nephew, the head of the National Organization for Women declared,

“The only place where Senator Kennedy’s behavior matters is on the floor of the U.S. Senate!”

I’ve become intolerant of the intolerance of the left.

Hate speech and hate crimes are code for establishing an overclass of a few that gets special immunity and protection, while there is zero protection for most.

Nina Burleigh’s the one who publicly announced that she'd give BllyBob a Lewinsky if he promised to “protect” abortion “rights”.
