Obama dodges question on Clinton's emails, paid speeches

President Obama dodged a question about Hillary Clinton's email controversy and her paid speeches to Wall Street on Thursday.

At the end of a press conference in Ise Shima, Japan, on Thursday, Obama told reporters that "as a special bonus, I’m going to take one more question, go ahead."

A reporter than asked Obama about a State Department inspector general report released Wednesday that said Clinton and her aides didn't comply with agency records-keeping policies.

“Just yesterday we saw the State Department’s inspector general put out a report about Secretary Clinton’s emails. It basically undermines some of what she’s said about her email practices," the journalist asked.

“I’m wondering if you think that undermines her trustworthiness with the American people and if you agree with Bernie Sanders that she should release the transcripts of her highly paid speeches to Wall Street?” he continued.

“OK, you know what? I take it back. I’m not taking another one," Obama responded to laughter.

Very telling. BTW, were the next comments quotes of his telling the press secretary to ensure that reporter does not have return seating.

If Richard Nixon had tried that they would have pelted him with rotting vegetables.

How stinkin' magnanimous.

This is the equal of someone being told to report to his manager at the close of business on Friday.

Long weekend coming, no one keeps abreast of the news much. I feel that Hitlery may be coming down with a very bad sickness and have to go through campaign withdrawal. AG on board, all present for action in DC for a agreement to plead guilty to some misdomeanor, a slap on the wrist for ignoring regulations and a trip to some plush recovery facility. Meanwhile, His excellency says she has been persecuted by the mean hearted gOP for decades and he has no choice but to say she has suffered enough and he issues a complete pardon for all actions past present and future extending to her and
her activities at the crime family foundation. I then awoke.

This was typically smug of Obama, but his response pleased me because he was dodging the opportunity to defend HRC.

HRC is in trouble, Folks. pass the popcorn!

I was kind of thinking the same thing. BUT.... At the same time, if he admits she screwed up, then he’s also admitting a problem with his administration on his watch. That is the biggest reason why he didn’t answer the question in my mind.

Well, of course he dodged it. He’ll have to watch CNN before he can give an answer.

I respectfully disagree with you (that Obama is merely trying to avoid conceding there had been a problem under his watch). I think Obama would argue in his defense that HRC lied to everyone, which isn’t the same as ordinary screwing up, which means it wasn’t really his fault. His earlier defense of her wasn’t really a defense, in that he used the word “carelessness”, even asserting that HRC herself had characterized her actions as “careless”, which she very deliberately had not! Obama can say now that he simply had believed HRC when she said what she had done was allowed and that she was fully cooperating with the investigation, and that he now knows she was lying. By refusing to answer any questions, he implies exactly that, which is why, although I think it was obnoxious of Obama to refuse to answer the question, I was delighted he so refused.

Reminds me of Gordon Ramsay’s comment when he tells a failing chef or restaurant owner that his food sucks, and the chef/owner laughs: “You think that’s funny?”

Very nicely handled! The mod answered me and said, “your friend needs to tone it down and put a little more thought into his posts”......

Glad to see you back!
