Rather than drafting conscripts THEN giving them military training, make military training a widely used school option like ROTC and Junior ROTC. Along with the military training, an intensive course in the REAL history and culture of the United States, as it played out in the years prior to 1960, intended to correct the miseducation that has been applied to public schools the past fifty years.
America is and always was a good country, albeit with poorly inspired leaders at times, that has demonstrated the best form of self-correcting experience in governance the world has ever known. Yes, there have been excesses, but that is the purpose of experience, to learn and apply that learning.
Young men who truly love their land of nativity should not have to be drafted, and they should be signing up in such numbers that no draft should ever be necessary. The Swiss have it right - every able-bodied Swiss male citizen is a member of the Swiss Army, as a reserve, and learns this self-reliance from a very early age.
Neither Hitler nor Mussolini dared any attempt to send troops into Switzerland in the Second World War, because the Swiss would have scorched earth, dynamiting every mountain pass and tunnel through the mountains and taken up defensive positions behind every tree and mountain ridge in all of Switzerland.
You are missing the point. This has nothing to do with raising and training a military. This is all about social engineering and placing defense of the nation secondary to the political agenda of the Democrat Party. Women, homosexuals, transgenders, criminals, pacifists, and terrorists should be accommodated within the military in whatever position that fits their desires. Phyisical limitations don’t count, mental limitations don’t count, anti social behavior doesn’t count.
