Everyone from Fred Astaire to Miley Cyrus is an offender when it comes to accidentally mocking other cultures, sometimes just by referencing them. Cultural appropriation is the newest sin against political correctness.
Outrage over culture caricatures spiked this year over everything from supermodels in Native American headdresses to sports team names. Movies and music were a popular battleground for the blame game.
Although those calling out cultural appropriation insist there are ways to borrow from cultures without appropriating them, it seems nearly impossible to do so and remain respectful under their terms. Imitation is no longer flattery, and we are no longer allowed to have fun with other cultures for fear of offending them.
The Washington Post and New York Times kept the ball in the air this year as criticism mounted against those accused of imitating cultures disrespectfully. The Post mentioned cultural appropriation 84 times so far in 2015-16 while the Times brought it up 41 times.

Methinks is proof that we have achieved MLK’s dream: given practically complete elimination of racism, those benefiting from raging about discrimination no longer have sufficient grounds to do so, and thus must fight to restore & impose discrimination so they can play of those divisions again.

Accusations of cultural appropriations are a handy method of separating rich liberals from their cash. It is nothing more than a funding vehicle for activists.

West in the television program, “The Wild, Wild West.” A number of years ago, a movie version of this show was done, with black actor Will Smith starring as James West. Was this “cultural appropriation?” The classic movie “Doctor Dolittle” , starring Rex Harrison in the title role was remade with black actor Eddie Murphy playing Doctor Dolittle. Was this “cultural appropriation?”

Those who have found that they no longer have anything to rage against are like little children throwing a temper tantrum to keep getting attention instead of moving on with their lives. Their entire relevance was entirely invested in making noise. Booker T Washington saw them miles away.
There have been rumblings about that already. Also, don't be surprised if they start coming after John Wayne, a symbol of American courage and patriotism.
