There’s a third category. Those who believe he’s a liar who has manipulated simple-minded people and will govern as an out of control megamaniactic leftist. Not saying they’re right, but that’s what they think. I believe Sasse falls into that category. Trump needs to convince that group that he is for real in his promises.

I don’t that’s the whole explanation. It seems to me that Nebraska politics have long been just a little bit wacky.

For example, Sen. Hagel was arguably to the left of Sen. Nelson, with the latter having been the least liberal Dhimmi in the Senate. In fact, Obama liked Hagel so much that he made him SecDef, while he allowed Nelson to fade into much deserved obscurity.

And going back in history, former Senator J. J. Exon was also pretty rightwingish for a Dhimmi. In fact, when he was Governor of Nebraska, he was considered more conservative on budgetary issues than were many local ‘Pubbies.

So if Sasse should get disowned and booted by the Nebraska GOP, I think it wouldn’t be all that surprising if he later got himself re-elected as an independent, a Libertarian or even as a Dhimmi.
