They tried the same thing with Trump. Scott Brown was told if he supported Trump his days with the Republican party were numbered. I imagine a lot of people were told to stay away from Trump if they knew what was good for them.

First step would be to OUT the people who were making the threats! Name them, show their picture and OUT them for public view.
That alone may bring others in line.
