I caught a fragment of the Fox radio news that comes on each half-hour on my talk radio station locally.....and what I heard said that, and I paraphrase, at the meeting this morning, Ryan opposed and maybe Trump was giving in on Trump’s position of keeping Muslims out. ...Anyone know anything about that...

My guess is you are wrong and MONUMENTALLY wrong at that.

Republicans are swinging behind Trump at this point and not away from him.No NEW voices have been added to the anti Trump Repubs but some have left the group entirely while others while not actually endorsing Trump at this time have not said they would not. These spineless bastards say they “are not yet ready” to endorse him. This is spineless pol talk for, “I want to see how the wind blows before I take a firm position”

This ridiculous (non) controversy is a massively media ginned up nothing burger. There are, in fact far more disaffected voters on the Left than the Right.

Disagree.

The R Party bigs care about holding onto their power and the ability to control things. Trump only threatens part of that, I believe they’ve seen how he can be a net plus to the GOP by pulling in new voters, albeit by taking them across ideological lines they’ve not crossed before. But since when does the R party care about ideology? They just want to retain their power and that means they have to WIN.

And DJT is the right man for that job. There’s a strong draft for the downticket races behind the Trump Train!

Ryan is just a tool. He very likely will lose his primary bid and no longer be a facter 2 weeks after the convention.

I have no reason to believe Trump will cave, however I don’t see the point in even talking to Ryan. Just tell him how it is, get on board or go your own way. Trump’s the one with millions of votes. Not Ryan. Ryan stands for everything that Trump opposes (open borders, blow up the budget, etc etc )

I have never come CLOSE to doubting of abandoning Trump. But if he backs down on the moratorium on Muslim immigration...that will be like a dagger.

heard a very smattering of this too, very early in the day and then they talked about Eric Trump saying Trump can get along fine without Ryan. So it was confusing...

My guess is you are wrong and MONUMENTALLY wrong at that.

I hope you're right.

But Ryan is not stupid, in spite of all evidence to the contrary. It is hurting him to oppose Trump. That means he has a reason for his opposition that justifies what it is costing him.

My prediction about today: Both sides will present themselves as reasonable people seeking to work things out. That's practically a given.

BUT, the tell:

Ryan will not endorse Trump.

Ryan has become the face of the anti-Trump movement. I don't expect him to endorse Trump until the behind the scenes attempt to mount a credible 3rd party run has failed.

Just heard the newscaster on Fox detailing all the conservative things Ryan wants, but Trump supposedly doesn’t (cutting Medicare costs, not raising taxes on wealthy - which Trump would still lower the top rate, he is just open to negotiations on how much) - trying to make Ryan sound like the principled conservative. No mention of Ryan’s pro-amnesty stance.

Just another hit piece.

The label is the beginning of the end for Ryan or any other Establishment pawn that messes with Trump (and us!).

So these guys do not want to get a Trump nickname because that means the end is near for their political career!

I think there are two separable items there, one being Trump's position on Muslim immigration, and the other on Trump's attitude toward getting Ryan "on board."

Yesterday, Trump indicated there would be exceptions to his "no Muslim immigration" policy. At the same time he said that, he said that we need to be careful who we let in, and that radical Islamic terrorism is a real threat.

As for Ryan's support, Trump has said he'd like to have it, but he doesn't need it.

Priebus with Dana bash on CNN, live, says "positive first step toward unifying." Cooperative meeting, mutually agreeable. Won't talk about specifics, it was a private meeting. Meeting went as well as he had hoped. Asked if Ryan would endorse Trump, Priebus said the meeting was a great first step, and interested folks should read Ryan's and Trump's statements.

Reads like some crap, bull, politi-speak written by the GOPE.

Let Trump tell us himself in his own words what happened there today. Come on, Trump, TRANSPARENCY!
