Since when have ‘immigrants’ been called ‘migrants’? Yes, I know some people use the terms synonymously, but their connotations are different. The term ‘immigrant’ connotes someone coming to a new country to live there permanently. The term ‘migrant’ suggests ‘nomadic’ travelers, just going from place to place. I guess that's the kind of ‘borderless world’ people like Kerry are talking about.

I was being polite. I think “invaders” is a better term.

In the German case, you have a number of Albanians and Macedonians....who view employment and economic prospects in their home area to be worthless to discuss presently. So, they just want jobs, period. They aren’t exactly desiring to be Germans though.

Then you toss in Poles, Czechs, Greeks, and some Spanish folks (with educational backgrounds....some with degrees)...who see serious job issues in the homeland, and they’ve been offered jobs in Germany. They also don’t care about citizenship. They see themselves in Germany for five to ten years....while waiting for economics in their old country to return to some norm.

So, then you have the North AFricans, Syrians, Afghans, Egyptians, etc....who all want to stay....becoming Germans. Well....most of them anyway. I’ve bumped into some Syrians here in Germany are straight forward about leaving Germany as soon as Assad is gone and a new peaceful gov’t arrives.
