(8) Small arms ammunition for personal use carried by a crewmember or passenger in checked baggage only, if securely packed in boxes or other packagings specifically designed to carry small amounts of ammunition. Ammunition clips and magazines must also be securely boxed.
I am not saying you might not get away with it, I am saying that it can be a huge hassle to show up with a hand gun, two loaded mags, and a hard case only to have them interpret the legal reference differently than your reference. I have seen the law interpreted to mean no loaded mags and the ammo in an ammo box.
Nambu?
Isn’t that considered the most dangerous pistol of WW II?
To the person holding one that is.
It was a hassle all right. 15 rounds of hollow-point confiscated.
I guess its up to the traveler to decide whether they want to get into a battle of wits with the customer service reps at the airport.
No, thank on the battle of wits. Ugh!
American must have updated their site. It was more ambiguous when I flew.
Nope.
7.65 Browning is Not 7.65mm
I agonized over that ambiguity myself and ended up packing the weapon and two empty mags in the lockable pistol case. I took the cartridges and put them in a clear baggie so they could see what they were without having to handle them. No one even blinked other than to compliment me on my Colt Commander.
Must bee a Nambu. Loaded, it is mainly dangerous to the individual wielding it..
Yep. It says so on the drawing you posted.

I did not, but I will. Although it is normally my intention to let the officer know. Unless something about the situation concerns me and I feel it's best to keep quiet.
Ah, flight crew. Critical missing info.
Did you notice the listed bullet diameter on your link?
Did you notice the designation of the cartridge? Bullet diameter doesn’t match the designation on a lot of cartridges. Go ask for a box of 7.65x17mm and see what they give you.
And the 32ACP is actually closer to 8mm than the 8x22 Nambu.
It is only 0.775% smaller than 8mm. A negligible amount, don't you think?
And the 8x22 Nambu is 1.625% larger than 8mm.
And the 32ACP is much more common than the Nambu.
What other 8mm pistol do you think it could be?
Stay out of MD! When we go to another town in PA the shortest way takes us into far NW MD for 15 miles. We are felons for about 15 mins.
Virginia is back on line as far as reciprocity goes. Governor used this action as a ploy to extort a compromise from state legislature.
I am recommending putting the ammo back in an ammo box, either plastic or the original packaging, just to be sure.
