An investigative economist has crunched 45 years of official statistics to discover just how much kleptocrats have plundered from 150 mostly poor nations.
For the first time we have a reliable estimate of how much money thieving dictators and others have looted from 150 mostly poor nations and hidden offshore: $12.1 trillion.
That huge figure equals a nickel on each dollar of global wealth and yet it excludes the wealthiest regions of the planet: America, Canada, Europe, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand.
The $12.1 trillion estimate—which amounts to two-thirds of America’s annual GDP being taken out of the economies of much poorer nations—is for flight wealth built up since 1970

These are the people that our establishment cozies-up to at the UN and in Davos.
That’s what is it. Impoverished third world hellholes only exist because the West plunders their robust economies. Lord knows when I need quick illegal tranportation I don’t steal the car with the keys in the ignition, I look for a tricycle and take that.
Maybe the fact that most are governed by Socialism and Thugocracy has something to do with it? Nahhhh can’t be. I leaned in college that those are best.

I don’t think that writer is talking about the West. He’s talking about local rulers plundering their own countries.
The West through the IMF and World Bank routinely make loans to nations that they know will be looted by the leaders of the country. In return they get control of the natural resources and/or nations utility companies.

Plenty of that happening here on our express superhighway to third-world status.
It’s wonderful and benevolent beyond question - euphemistically known as sustainable development. Much like the euphemism of free trade any doubters are to be expunged for heresy from the public square of conversation; unfit and irreparably damaged.
There are several thousand people around the world who did very well at the expense of billions. Congress has around 500 people and they do an immense amount of damage. Those at the top like Diane Feinstein and Barbara Boxer and Nancy Pelosi (Calif) have made literally BILLIONS undermining the country.
Yet the population of the poor countries keeps growing. The population of the rich countries keeps shrinking, with the exception of the US where all the poor keep moving.
Let’s see...150 countries over 45 years to the tune of 12.1 trillion...about 1.8 billion per country per year.
Not so much per kleptrocrat then, for whom no figure is quoted, but which must surely range in the many thousands over that time span.
