Trump is rich, but not rich enough to defeat Hillary in the general election without donor money. Small donors like us could make up some of the difference, but in the end he’ll need access to Republican PACs, which means convincing the GOP establishment that no matter how much they hate him, they’re better off with him than with Hillary. Probably the only way to do that is to pick an establishment running mate, as Reagan did with Bush in 1980. Kasich would be the least objectionable choice among establishment candidates (he’s more the bumbling loser type than an outright jerk like Rubio or Bush), and as a bonus Trump gets Ohio.
