It went up at first, then went down. The net effect seems to have not been measurable.

Even crime with guns continued on the same downward slope that existed before the ban.

It was and expensive nothingburger - except - it put into place extremely restrictive rules for buying, owning, and using firarms.

It was intended to make firearms ownership so burdensome that the budding Australian gun culture would die out.

That has not happened. There are more guns and gun owners in Australia now than before the “buy back” occurred.
