Messianic Rabbi Jonathan Cahn at

Statuary Hall, U.S. Capitol, Apr. 27,

2016. (Screenshot: YouTube) At a Christian prayer event in the U.S. Capitol’s Statuary Hall, Messianic Rabbi Jonathan Cahn said Israel and America were founded on “God’s calling” but that America today is driving God “out of its public squares,” and that in legalizing homosexual “marriage,” the Supreme Court had overruled “the laws of the Almighty.”

Rabbi Kahn added that in celebrating that ruling by illuminating the White House in the colors of the gay rainbow, President Barack Obama took the “sacred colors of God’s covenant” and turned them “against the purposes of God.”

Only God can strike down His laws - and He is too constant to do so. We have the freedom to ignore Him, but there will be a penalty later on down the road.....

No, he thinks Jesus is Moshiach.

I assume, because he’s a Messianic Jew, he would spell it G-d, so maybe they were just showing respect.

...too constant?

Was going for the respectful version of "to". ;-)

Hope the slip didn't ruin anyone's day.

Can’t call himself a Christian. Has to “identify” as a Jew.

Ummm. . . The living Jesus still "identifies" himself as a Jewish and will be one when He soon returns.

He does seem to identify as a Messianic Jew. I have heard him a few times talk about Jesus but can't remember the word Christ. There is a difference, actually if you want to get technical about it, and I think one should be technical and precise about that. Tons of Hispanics are named Jesus.

I thought to qualify for being a rabbi, one had to be approved, but a Jewish convert to Christianity would never be approved by a rabbinical court or whatever governs Jewish law and practices, don't know if they can just decide on their own that they can be one and adopt rabbinical practices, dress, etc.

He always seems to teach on the OT passages. I can't remember ever teaching out of the NT. If he does, it's not often. I know Jews don't like the NT, but if one converted, one would expect them to accept it with even more emphasis than the OT.

I don't watch all his videos but a lot. So far nothing he has said has come true (that I can recall) since he wrote the Harbinger and the new book about the Shemitah. I don't know if it is an authentic teaching, but some say we don't know if a prophecy has been fulfilled until after the fact. The Harbinger would fit that explanation; it more or less came true one could say but was inexact on a couple of points. Only after did some get the association with the passage in Isaiah now well known, can't remember the exact numbers.

A lot of what he says is sound teaching, as in this thread, but on some points, one should take it with a grain of salt. To his credit, he talks about dates but cautions his listeners they could happen but also might not as God can relent on a judgment, etc.

I don't have a problem that he still identifies as a Jew as to ethnicity. He said he was an Orthodox Jew before his conversion, tells an odd story about going up on a high hill and accepting Jesus, then within a day or two a warning on the hill so he went back up in the daytime and saw where he had stood was an altar or stone to Satan. He has unusual stories that sound more than coincidental, and I don't believe he would intentionally lie or makes stories up.

No, I was questioning what G-d was to (too?) constant on.

No, I was questioning what G-d was to (too?) constant on.

I picked up on that after I realized I had used the proper form of "too".

In context, I think it fit because I had the qualifier with it to indicate it wan't a gripe about His constancy: "Only God can strike down His laws - and He is too constant to do so."

He is always constant - He IS!

I think you may do what I tend to do (sharp mind/wit and perhaps a little ADD) where the mind kicks in quick and sometimes a clue is missed before the response is formulated - like I did when I assumed you were giving me a grammar lesson.

Anyway - we mentioned Him a time or two and that's never a bad thing. Have a great day.

I'm on a couple of ping lists that are so active it's hard to keep up with threads I meant to respond to so please forgive the delay.

If I think I have something worthwhile, I will definitely ping you. I'm often on religious threads but on no ping lists for them so probably miss a lot of interesting topics.

Just the other day I decided to click on a video, a two-part, with Jonathan about Hannukah. They aren't too long. I was pleasantly surprised by his explanation of Hannukah, and actually preached from the New Testament!

It was comforting to hear his words at the end of the first or second. I will post the link to the first one and the second should come up on the right sidebar or you could find it easily.

Jonathan said that we are in the end times and that immoral people will climb to the top in government positions, presume banking and corporate. He said Christians would be brought low. It is exactly what is happening. He also spoke of Daniel and the people who know their God (to me that is knowing the moral law and what God expects from us) will see and understand what is happening.

On a thread a few weeks ago, and I chided myself about it, I remarked that I couldn't understand why he would appear on a Jim Bakker show as he had such a terrible reputation (I still don't think a whole lot of him). But I asked myself who am I to criticize a sinner who may have repented? A FReeper then rightly pointed out that God may be using Jonathan in these times, and any show can be a good opportunity to get his teachings out. So I will be ok with Jonathan being so cozy with them.

His communion service disturbed me though. I wouldn't do it. I emailed him a couple years ago with questions, intending to try to help their fledgling church (I didn't say that), and I never heard back. I specifically asked what he taught about communion.

So there was another appearance of the Jim Bakker show where he held a communion service. Sorry, I may stumble over that video again but am not likely to find it. So here is the link to the first Hannukah video.

Jonathan Cahn: Hanukkah foreshadows the Antichrist and End Time (part 1 of 2)

Now if you find anything you think would be of interest to me, I would appreciate it if you would reciprocate. Your screen name I have seen before but don't remember any specific posts (I could look you up but it's better to keep moving forward). Peace to you and yours.
