(Delavan, WI) - "The revelation that Paul Ryan took $10,000 in campaign cash from Abbott Labs provides more strong evidence that the Speaker's votes in Congress are on the auction block and available to the highest bidder," said insurgent candidate Paul Nehlen early this morning of the 18-year incumbent he is challenging in Wisconsin's 1st Congressional District.
Abbott Labs has been a strong proponent for further expansion of the H1B visa program. Last week, Nehlen attended a memorial event for 180 Abbott Labs employees not only displaced by imported H1B workers but also required to train their cheaper replacements, many of whom are far less skilled.
"Combine Ryan's support of H1B expansion with his mercenary promotion of crony international trade deals, open borders, centrally planned education, and a range of other detrimental policies, and it becomes clear that he's no longer standing by the principles he pretends to espouse or looking out for his constituents.
"FEC reports disclose that 83 percent of Paul Ryan's campaign funding comes from outside of Wisconsin's 1st District--and the better part of that 83 percent comes in the form of large donations from inside the Washington Beltway. So, the reason Paul Ryan has stopped representing the interests of the people of Southeastern Wisconsin is plain. They just don't have enough cash to keep their current representative interested."
