The bill is unlikely to find much support in the GOP-controlled Senate. But Boxer, who is retiring from Congress, said she wants to put this in motion now, and Durbin volunteered to take up the mantel when Boxer is gone.

“I hope, if we can’t pass this this year, I can take up the flag and carry it in her name in years to come so when we talk about finally passing this, it will be known as Barbara Boxer’s legacy,” he said.

If they ever get this the pitch to sell these will make the WW II push to buy War Bonds seem tame and sedate by comparison.

There’s potential in this. We could enact a climate change bond bill, and at the same time withdraw other federal subsidies for wind and solar power, on the grounds that we have now modernized and rationalized the support mechanism. Greenies who think we should invest massively in wind and solar can put their money where their mouth is, and be paid back by the profits (ha!) of their investments.

Taking up that mantel is surely difficult. Some mantels are large solid oak slabs, others are marble or granite. A mantle, however, is but a cloak and easier to take up.

Consider what the country will be like if the Democrats take control of Congress and the USSC. It may well happen. Their voting strength is way beyond the number of living legitimate Democrats. It includes a fair porportion of illegals and documented 6% of legal immigrants. And Soros has the vote count franchise for Florida and NY and 9 other states. And the voting machine hacking and fraudulent voting will be way beyond any previous level. Not to mention the Republican Party has barred itself legally from challenging voter fraud.
