MOSCOW, April 29. /TASS/. The body of senior lieutenant Alexander Prokhorenko killed when carrying out a combat task in Syria has been delivered to Moscow, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Friday.
"Following special joint steps taken with the participation of representatives of the Syrian authorities and the Kurdish militia, the officer’s body has been delivered to Moscow," the ministry said.
The farewell ceremony with military honors will be held as agreed with his relatives.
Trapped behind enemy lines, surrounded by jihadists and with no possible means of escape, Alexander Prokhorenko, 25, took the decision to end his own life by calling in Russian warplanes to obliterate his location.
The special forces soldier, on a secret mission in the ancient Syrian city of Palmyra, has since been hailed as a hero in his native Russia.
His wife Ekaterina, who is pregnant with their first child, today revealed she had no idea he was fighting in Syria.

Thanks for posting this. I cannot figure out why on earth we went to Syria and made certain our military is fighting against Russia, near a base they had there since the seventies. God bless their baby.. And God bless us all.. Another country we have no business in. Jimmy Carter... Damn you to Chicago... Close enough, right?
As far as I am concerned anyone sacrificing to defeat Islamofascism is a hero.
May Prokhorenko rest in peace and may his family obtain the support they need.

Note to Russian Special Forces Command:
1. You need to plan for air cover. Lots of it. And have back up. And have refuelers on stand by. You need to know where your troops are at all times and be ready to put down a wall of steel.
2. You need a compromise and extraction plan. A real one. Planned and rehearsed.
3. You need CSAR on immediate standby in the air.
4. You need a QRF. A real one. With muscle. Trained, rehearsed and ready to kick ass.
5. You need ISR. 24/7 on ops. You will know about a compromise before the troops on the ground.
He’s a hero. And his body was retrieved by other heroes, Kurdish YPG fighters.

My God. I’m in tears. Am thankful they have brought him home. I cannot even begin to imagine.
Our "friends" the Saudis and Turks want a Sunni Muslim-puppet state in Syria under their control, so are supporting Islamist groups (yes, including ISIS) to fight Assad. They don't like the fact Assad is allied with Iran and supports Shiites in Lebanon. Assad himself is an Alawi, a minority sect in Syria, so must ally himself with his minorities (including Christians) to remain in power. The Saudis support every Sunni-Islamist group out there. The US wants to punch Russia in the nose, kick them out of the Mediterranean, and give Putin a black eye. the USA (obama) also wants to see a more pliant regime in Syria. Much of this also has to do with oil politics and pipelines.
what's amazing to me is that Clinton and the Fake "Peace Prize Winner" Obama, with their abandonment of Iraq, and civil wars in Syria, Libya and nearly Egypt - have created the greatest refugee crisis since WWII. Why is no one talking about this?
