CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) -- Venezuelan cities cleaned up from a night of looting and fiery protests Wednesday as government offices closed their doors for the rest of the week in the face of a worsening energy crisis that is causing daily blackouts.
The socialist administration began imposing a four-hour daily blackout around the country this week to save power. Then on Tuesday, President Nicolas Maduro announced that millions of officials will now work only Monday and Tuesday.

Some here complain that the country is starting to resemble the dystopian series "The Hunger Games," in which districts suffer for the benefit of the extravagant capital city.
Ain't socialism great?
Another reason to vote Bernie.
A two day work week to save power? Doesn’t someone have to, uh, WORK to generate more power? I guess by the Socialist’s logic, if everyone killed themselves, the country would save a lot of power.
This pleases me.
I am not pleased the anti-Chavistas are suffering, but it is a good thing that 1) the world has a running socialism-caused disaster in motion. It seems humans are not always so smart, and need constant reminding of the horrors of collectivism and 2) that the socialist voters and segments of society of Venezuela are getting exactly what they chose.
They’re filthy rich with oil and other natural resources. But are living like paupers because of their socialist stupidity.
Don’t tell France that a two day work week is a thing. They’ll want one.
Get outta my way, we want that here too. Hurry up!
You forgot:
3) It is all happening just a short flight from Houston or Miami, meaning it will become impossible for our mainstream media to ignore forever.
This is how you finish off a country. They will now vote in a non-socialist who will be blamed for this. Then they get rid of him, finish looting the treasury and skip town as the final nail is placed in Venezuelas coffin.
However, knowing how the world works, they will probably get the next World Cup.
How are their electric power plants fueled? Being an oil-rich nation, I’d imagine oil. So, they’re imposing a further hardship on their people, trying to save one of the few things they have in abundance. Exporting it for dollars, that go where?
Woohoo! Go Chavez legacy!
71% of their power is hydroelectric. And the reservoirs are dry....

Viva la revolucion.
It will result in a military coup to return order to the country.
And, their citizens will welcome it.
Global warming? :-)
Wow, everything going wrong for them all at once then.
“millions of officials”
There’s the bigger problem.
Obama wants to close all the coal fired generation, the only promise he kept.
People, generation must equal load.
The formula is a little more complex but that is the gist.
The most work available is for a two day workweek. Of course that’s really no problem since the government can’t afford to print money. Anyhow, Hugo created a workers paradise where nobody works for the evil capitalists. Now the people own the oil. Also the toilet paper factory.
The MSM has ignored the Clinton crime syndicate for 25 yrs plus. And they have ignored the unconstitutional emperor for 7+ years so I dont think they will have any trouble ignoring a socialist country tanking. Heck I’m confident we will bring a few million commie venes to the US to further our great socialist experiment.
