The slaying of Xulhaz Mannan, editor of Bangladesh's first magazine for gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people, has deeply shocked Bangladesh's embattled community of free-thinking intellectuals.
Mannan, 35, was hacked to death in the capital Dhaka by a group of assailants posing as couriers.
Islamist militants have targeted atheist bloggers, academics, religious minorities and foreign aid workers in a series of killings.
But the death of Mannan, who published gay rights journal Roopbaan and also worked for US aid agency USAID, has caused particular alarm because his links to a powerful Western government offered no guarantee of safety.

The American liberal media will be outraged in 5,4,oh never mind...they couldn’t find this story if it bit them in the a$$.
The fag must have thought he was in the United States and could ram his perversion down the throats of the muslim majority. It’s his own fault, he knew the risks.
Now, all of you LGBT people out there. This wasn’t important, the real battle is for North Carolina bathrooms. Keep repeating that no matter how many LGBT people are thrown off roofs and/or beheaded. Unless you are the “L” in LGBT, then you will be raped by the ISIS fighter who pays the most. For the rest of your life.
The bathrooms are where the real battle is!!!!
That’s like having sex in the back seat of a car. I can think of a lot of better places...
Ever heard of Amy Biel?
USAID worker...ie working on the payroll of the US government to promote homosexuality abroad. That’s our new foreign policy.
Wonder how many queers are making a living off of our tax money in service of Obama? About 3% of the U.S. population are homosexuals, and I’d wager they are WAY over-represented in this administration.
The magazine was for gay, bisexual and transsexual males, but the parentheses had included the L. I don’t think they are catering to lesbians at all.
