The Iranian Revolutionary Guards plan to deploy Hamas forces in the battle for Iraq's second biggest city, Mosul, which has been controlled by ISIS since June 2014, the London-based Arab daily a-Sharq al-Awsat reported Sunday.
According to the report, Hamas forces would fight for Mosul's liberation alongside Hezbollah fighters and the Shi'ite Houthi militias which are currently struggling in Yemen against the Sunni coalition of Arab states, led by Saudi Arabia.
Located in northern Iraq, Mosul is a cultural heritage asset for Iran, due to the slew of holy Shi'ite sites located in the city, such as al-Qubba al-Husseniya mosque, which was demolished by ISIS in June 2014.

May the battle be particularly bloody.
Hamas is Iran’s rhymes with witch. Hamas is a Sunni Fundamentalist organization. So Iran must have them over a barrel to serve as cannon fodder for a Shiite army to take on their Sunni ISIS brothers.
Well, now. THERE’S a tradeoff for you!
Saudis are fond of spreading their poison around with proxy wars, money and Wahhabi preachers.
Iran and a lot of other moehammedans would like to see SA and the Gulf Royal Families destroyed. Then the survivors could all unite in the new caliphate.
Iran also used to pull children from local villages, put white burial robes on them, give then a key to heaven and sent him into the minefields to clear them...
Their parents would wrap them in blankets before leaving to keep all the body parts together so they can bury them whole...
Obama new BFF...
Except we have advisers who will be working on their side. Also Apache gunships and Lord knows what else.
Interesting, since Hezbollah is Persia’s proxy and of the Shia sect.
May all of them shoot each other.

Really, this seems highly unlikely, as the newspaper doesn't give a source, and does not explain how the Hamas troops would get out of Gaza, which is under blockade - even if they wished to go and fight in Mosul. The claim that Mosul is full of significant Shia holy sites also seems odd, those sites are in the south of Iraq, in Karbala and Najaf.
The significance of the article, is that this claim is being made. It seems that some of the Arab media want to tag Hamas as being pro-Iranian.
Hamas is in more places than Gaza, but yes, this article appears to be a message that Iraq is Iran’s playground now and Iraq is so unable to defend themselves that Iran can simply tap someone else to go in and do it.
