Mass. Sen. President Rosenberg to Berkshire Gas: Pipeline is dead; lift the moratorium
The Republican ^

Posted on 04/24/2016 10:30:24 AM PDT by matt04

Massachusetts Senate President Stanley Rosenberg on Wednesday called upon Berkshire Gas to lift its moratorium on new and expanded natural gas service in the region — but a spokesman for Berkshire's parent company, the publicly-traded Avangrid, told The Republican that the moratorium on new hookups would stay in place without a "permanent solution" for additional natural gas capacity in western Massachusetts.

...

Berkshire Gas had hoped to purchase capacity on the line. Berkshire's parent company, Avangrid, had also signed on as an investor in the $5-8 billion Kinder Morgan pipeline.

Berkshire more than a year ago imposed a moratorium on new service in its Eastern Division, comprising Greenfield, Deerfield, Montague, Whately, Sunderland, Hatfield, Hadley, and Amherst. Berkshire said in newspaper advertisements and on customer bills that the moratorium would stay in place until the pipeline was built.

"For many months now, I've been pressing Berkshire Gas to articulate what their 'Plan B' would be to lift the moratorium and serve the customers of Western Mass at their earliest possible convenience if the pipeline were not built," Rosenberg said in a statement.

"Unfortunately, the only solution they recognized was the proposed NED pipeline. I now urgently call on Berkshire Gas to implement industry-standard practices to lift the moratorium which constrains economic development in the region. Those alternatives include increasing use and storage of liquid natural gas, compressed natural gas, or propane, as well as reducing existing leaks, in order to lift the moratorium immediately."

...

Avangrid spokesman Michael West said in a telephone interview that the moratorium will stay in place, and that there is no "Plan B."

"The moratorium will continue for the Eastern Division," said West. "The capacity constraints still exist. Northeast Energy Direct was the permanent solution that would have relieved those capacity constraints."

Hahahaha. The libs demand more eeeeeeil natural gas but stop them from building a pipeline to deliver sad gas. Now they want the gas company to deliver more gas using a pipeline that is at capacity.

Simple solution, disconnect gas service from people who opposed the pipeline and hook up people who didn't. Let them figure out how to say warm in the winter.

Maybe the “solution” is to hook the local gas disty system up to Stanley Rosenburg’s a$$, or his big mouth! Lot’s of gas coming out of those two orifices! He reminds me a pic someone posted showing Berhie Sanders proposal for “free electricity.” Just plug the pigtail on the power strip back into one of the outets and voila, “free electricity.”

Pray for a really bad winter in Mass. next year.

Let ‘em freeze in the dark, and see how they like that.

(sorry for any freepers behind those enemy lines)

Lib politicians: is there no limit to their stupidity? Or the stupidity of those who vote for them?!

Gas company: we need a new pipeline to have enough gas to serve more of your consitutuents.

Lib politicians: No!

Gas company: well then we can’t serve more of your constituents.

Lib politicians: Gas companies are evil!

Senator Rosenberg is not stupid, but politically motivated. He pees on our back and tells us it’s raining and knows that no one believes him, and hopes that enough voters don’t care.

Plan B: harness cow pharts.

Hey, Senate royalty, unlike taxpayer money, you cannot simply degree more supply. You are not going to get a LNG tanker up the Connecticut River and how many truckloads would it take to replace a pipeline? Masshole!

Let's keep things simple so we all can understand it:

Those gas furnaces will not burn coal, oil nor wood when the outside temperature is zero.

It will be a long winter with no heat in the house.

Rosenturd is an out of the closet homo. There is also a natural gas moratorium here on Cape Cod where I am.

Yep, they’re going to end up paying for imported LNG. Happens every time there is a long cold snap. Electricity prices in Massachusetts are VERY expensive.

Thanks for posting. Somehow I didn’t manage to save this. Now someone needs to come up with one depicting the Massoftwoshits “natural” gas plan. I guess when you’re talking about the RATs, all the gas being produced is “natural!”
I’m just waiting for Jesse Watters to do an “idiots on the street” interview and show this to the morons who now go to Harvard. I will bet you that a some of them will say “yeah man, that’s the deal, go Bernie!”

“I know, a few wind turbines will solve everything, right? Right?”

Yeah, because the RATs “know” that the “best natural gas” is made through the use of windmills.

Plan B for the state consists of waving a magic wand and delivering the gas without a pipeline. Those narrow minded corporate execs are unwilling to hire Harry Potter and place him in charge of gas transportation.

MA is stupid, there’s unlimited natgas supply in adjacent PA. But no we import it from Yemen via a French company, at top price.

My guess is the hacks in Boston are taking money from the French to scuttle the pipeline.
