Trump: Oh, Sure, I’ll Raise Taxes
The Daily Wire ^ | Hank Berrien

Posted on 04/21/2016 7:40:43 PM PDT by AnalogReigns

Thursday morning, asked on the Today Show whether he believed in raising taxes on the wealthy, Donald Trump, the frontrunner for the GOP nomination for president, gave a reply that illuminated how much of a Democrat in GOP clothing the Orange-Haired One is, replying, “I do, I do.”

As time passes, Trump is becoming almost indistinguishable from Bernie Sanders. Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief saw this back in February, in a piece delineating how alike the two men were on numerous policies. For the sake of solely concentrating on their similarities vis-à-vis economic policy, here’s Shapiro’s section on that:

They’re both anti-establishment candidates who bash Wall Street. Here’s Trump from his victory speech last night:

It’s special interests’ money, and this is on both sides. This is on the Republican side, the Democrat side, money just pouring into commercials. These are special interests, folks. These are lobbyists. These are people that don’t necessarily love our country. They don’t have the best interests of the country at heart.

Here’s Sanders from his victory speech last night:

We have sent a message that will echo from Wall Street to Washington, from Maine to California, and that is that the government of our great country belongs to all of the people and not just a handful of wealthy campaign contributors, and their Super PACs.

Of course, when Trump says he believes in raising taxes on the wealthy, he also believes he will cunningly outsmart the system. As he said in January, "I mean, I pay as little as possible. I use every single thing in the book.”

Trump has boasted that his tax plan would help working people, but that simply is another Trumpian lie. As Robert Shapiro, chairman of economics and security advisory firm Sonecon, pointed out, "To the extent he says he's fighting for working people, his tax plan refutes that -- it's a complete refutation. He's fighting for himself, and those like him, at the very top of the income distribution. That's what his policies do." Shapiro added, "He's actually going to provide a much larger tax break to hedge funds and private equity fund general partners than what the carried-interest loophole does.”

"I mean, I pay as little as possible. I use every single thing in the book.” -DONALD TRUMP

As the Tax Policy Center noted of Trump’s tax plan, according to Fortune, “By 2017, the highest-income 1% of taxpayers would receive a tax cut of 17.5% of after-tax income, and the top 0.1% — those with incomes of over $3.7 million in current dollars — would experience an average tax cut of more than $1.3 million, nearly 19% of after-tax income.”

Trump may say he’s for raising taxes on the wealthy just to curry favor with Democrats and establishment Republicans, but it simply isn’t true. And by saying he would do so, any credibility of Trump being a conservative is ripped to shreds.

How so many Trumpettes on FR cling to the delusion that little Donnie is conservative....is beyond me.

Funny from a "Cruz or Lose"r that prefers to ignore parts of the article and miss the main gist because the truth is so dang inconvenient...

Keep drinking the koolaid

He won’t be deporting people other than the criminal element which they should be doing anyway....but of course Trump supporters will accept that as Trump doing what he said he’d do if he wins. He can play is supporters very easily and he knows that.

Be more specific on where you think he’s going to balance this.....he won’t take from social security and other entitlements as he’s Promised to keep these untouched.....which leaves the military being cut and or education, which he has said he won’t touch wither.

So where is he going to cut spending...be specific????????

Instead of trying to get me to do your homework for you, let me help you out a little bit here: Trump's immigration plan.

Obviously, controlling illegal immigration is going to have a lot of 2nd and 3rd order effects. The money we are spending on health care, the money lost by illegals not paying taxes, the money we are spending on social programs and education, all for illegals, all adds up to considerable savings realized just from controlling illegal immigration. And so on, if you examine the other policies--they amount to spending cuts without specifically stating so.

Add to that the effect that getting all the people back to work that Obama has left unemployed, which results in less social spending.

Someone who runs on "cutting spending" without a real plan is running on nothing. Trump is running with real plans that will end up decreasing spending without specifically saying so, because the decreased spending is a 2nd or 3rd order effect.

Face it, even talking about cutting certain programs like Social Security results in major tantrums and fear-mongering from the left. Remember how Bush was portrayed as throwing grandma down the stairs, when he proposed a plan to privatize Social Security and put people in charge of their own retirement? Trump knows the left and is very aware of the tantrums they will throw if he talks directly about getting rid of those bloated programs. So, instead, he has policies that will decrease the bloat indirectly. He is also wisely picking a few (seven) policies to showcase in his campaign. A lot more does need to be done, but he understands that no one can do everything--so he has picked a few key areas to focus on.

I'll be honest--all I see in Cruz is someone with no real plan, no real world experience, busy trying to create an image of himself as the "one true conservative." It is nothing more than an image, and he pushes the image because, as far as actual plans and actions go, he is in over his head. Most voters see that. The recent NY primary and polling data show that.

A simple 20% across the board import tariff balances the budget tomorrow.

Trump has a tax plan that has been well advertised giving the middle class a tax break. You can read his tax plan at his website instead of taking media sound bytes.
