California Water Districts Say Drought Emergency Ended, Expected to Relax Conservation Measures
NBC Bay Area ^ | 4/20

California water districts large and small are expected to urge regulators on Wednesday to toss out or significantly relax emergency drought orders requiring residents to take shorter showers and let their lawns turn brown.

Strict orders remain in place, despite significantly more rain and snow this winter flowing into California reservoirs, easing five years of drought, local water officials say.

Continuing to ask Californians to sustain "heroic water conservation efforts" that don't reflect healthier water supplies today could erode the officials' credibility with residents when they're called upon next time to make sacrifices, David Bolland, special projects manager for the Association of California Water Agencies says in a letter to water regulators.

Yeah, thy wanted my area to cut back 33% or face $3000 a month in fines if I used water as much as 2014.
My problem is we were being good using only what we needed and had nowhere to cut.

Basically needed the rain and watering once a week for two minutes.
As we go to summer lawns and trees will have to die if you can’t water.

They have now charged more for water because people cut back, will they now reduce their water bills? I already know the answer.

Joe Bastardi and Weatherbell predicted exactly this almost a year ago.

Hat tip to Jerry Brown in giving our water rights away in the 70’s. Brilliant moonbeam, what a great move.

And yet just an hour ago as I left Stockton the Highway sign flashed "Severe drought. Conserve water"

I immediately stopped my car and dump the water out of my radiator to help out. Well I didn't, but every time I see this silly sign while driving I wonder what I am supposed to do.

SoCal didn’t get enough rain by a long sight and is still deep in drought. There was really no El Niño effect down here.

Here is another water issue brought to Californians by the corrupt legislature and governor. The amount of Chromium 6 allowable in drinking water in CA has been reduced to a level far below that required by the US EPA. There is no scientific reason for this drastic reduction.

As a result our water district, the Coachella Valley Water District, here in the low desert will have to spend $250 million in order to remove the naturally occurring Chromium 6 in groundwater which is at a level well below US EPA standards. The district estimates that it will cost every home owner about $50 a month in higher water bills.
