Ted Cruz claims that his tax plan would supercharge economic growth, boosting GDP by as much as 5% a year for a decade or more. Thats, umm, an ambitious goal to be sure. However, there is actually good reason to believe that hes right. As long as were careful about how we define GDP growth and also as long as we consider all the ways in which his plan will change the economy. This does mean being a little perverse in our assumptions: but also correct in our assumptions.
The basics of the plan are that income taxes will be cut for all. Also, that pretty much all business taxation will be replaced with a 16% flat tax. It is claimed (and Cruz has Art Laffer there claiming it with him) that such a relief from the burdens of taxation will produce an explosion of economic growth. This is not, I feel, entirely believable to put it mildly. While there may well be specific bottlenecks in the taxation system the total take, at 35 to 36% of GDP, isnt large enough for it to be causing a general lack of economic growth. Not in my opinion at least and in the opinion of vanishingly few economists too....

Not with 200 electoral votes it won’t.
Cruz is crashing in the polls now. What happens to his momentum after he loses the next 6 contests, often placing 3rd?
He is done.

If Cruz destroys the Party at the Convention then loses to Hillary, he is finished politically - BUT if he quits, he has a bright future.
— Bill Mitchell (@mitchellvii) April 15, 2016
Yes, Cruz is a narcissistic jerk - and exactly why he will likely quit before Cleveland. Narcissists don't often commit suicide.
— Bill Mitchell (@mitchellvii) April 15, 2016
I'm going on record as predicting CRUZ QUITS BEFORE CLEVELAND in a magnanimous gesture to save the Party gaining future leverage & goodwill.

Does narcissistic Cruz at age 45 seem like the kind of man to destroy his career just to stop a man with whom he largely agrees on policy?
— Bill Mitchell (@mitchellvii) April 15, 2016
People say Cruz will stay in to the end out of ambition - but political suicide is not ambitious. Being the guy who "savedthe Party" is.
— Bill Mitchell (@mitchellvii) April 15, 2016
Cruz going to Cleveland would be the equivalent of a Kamikaze pilot diving into an enemy ship. Bad for the boat, worse for the pilot.

Okay, I’ll bite. Who is Bill Mitchell?
In the latest post Cruz is up and trump is down.
Cruz wants to lower taxes.
Trump wants to raise them.
A guy I follow on twitter. He said pretty much the same thing JR said;

Cruz has lost it fair and square and should step aside for the sake of the country.
If his continued efforts at thievery split and destroy the party, well be saddled by Hillary or burned by Bernie.

Cruz lost the primary vote and is now aiding and abetting the enemy (the GOPe)
in their treasonous attempt to deny the nomination to the winner.
Cruz is a sore loser turned traitor against the grassroots voters.
And the foolish neophyte thinks the GOPe is going to let him have a shot at the presidency if he helps them block Trump?
Laughable if it wasnt so serious.

Oh look, another Cruzer spreading lies.
Forbes GOPe?
Yeah, everyone that praises Cruz or is critical of Trump is GOPe or worse.
FR POSTED: New Quinnipiac NY Poll (Trump 55%, Kasich 20%, Cruz 19%)
Steve Forbes endorsed Trump and will likely be a senior economic adviser to Trump.
...actually good reason to believe that he’s right...
Pretty much what I predicted after Colorado;

Cruz's poaching votes then bragging about it did not sit well w/ Americans.
Self-absorbed Cruz can't see the forest for the trees.
Why wait?
If Cruz’s tax plan is so good, why doesn’t he lead it to passage in
the senate and help pass it in the house, so it will be waiting on him
when he is President.
This is a great opportunity for Cruz to show his leadership skills.
